Warriors Arise: May 20, 2020
Now for the final part of verse 14, "Now When she had said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, and did not know that it was Jesus." You may think, "How could she not know that it was Jesus?" That is exactly who she was weeping for, asking about, and seeking. The verse clearly says she "saw" Jesus and then finishes with "And did not know that it was Jesus."
Sometimes our mind can be so occupied, we do not see what is right in front of us. Just because Mary "saw" Jesus doesn't mean she could see that he was Jesus. Her mind was not expecting what she was seeing. Mary lacked understanding of what had happened, what the angels had tried to tell her. She was struggling between realities. The reality that when someone dies they are dead verses Jesus saying He would rise to life again on the third day.
After Jesus entered Jerusalem on a colt and the people are hailed Him, "King of the Jews", He is overlooking Jerusalem. Luke 19:41-44 "Now as He drew near, He saw the city and wept over it, saying, "If you had known, even you, especially this your day, the things that make for your peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes. For days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embarkment around you, surround you and close you in on every side, and level you, and your children within you, to the ground; and they will not leave in you one stone upon another, because you did not know time of your visitation."
What Jesus said in Luke 19:41-44 has so many different possibilities. History tells us in 70 A.D. what Jesus said came to pass. We don't know if the people had truly seen Jesus as the King of the Jews if the destruction would have ever happened. Or if the destruction came because they didn't have a national revival when Jesus rose from the dead. Jesus wanted them to be prepared for what was about to happen. He wanted them to recognize, "This is what a king does. He lays down His life for His people." He already knew no one would be waiting for Him to walk out of the tomb on Sunday morning. There should have been a huge gathering, a glorious celebration, at the very least His disciples, but there was no one who saw Him walk out of the tomb that Sunday morning. Jesus knew there would be no one expecting His return. They did not understand; therefore, they did not see what was happening right before their eyes. Even the disciples would need a Savior because they did not believe Jesus would return. They would be like the father of the demon-possessed son, "I believe, help my unbelief." They believed because Jesus told them, but they didn't believe because they lacked understanding. Meaning, that they couldn't wrap their minds around the miracle of Jesus being the first born from the dead in just three days.
Something else happened in three days, the entire city of Nineveh repented when Jonah prophesied their doom. They believed God would do what Jonah said. They put on sack cloth and ashes, and repented for their wickedness. Their generation was saved from the destruction Jonah prophesied. When we repent of our sin, the impending outcome changes. History also tells us that Nineveh did see the doom Jonah prophesied but it wasn't until 70 years later. The little children who saw Jonah walk through the streets of their great city and heard him holler, "40 days Nineveh will fall!" would have been the elders in their city 70 years later. They did not heed the word of the Lord as a life style. They did not teach their children of God and how He spared their lives because their parents and grandparents repented of their sins. They heeded the warning of Jonah. In 70 years, the children became adults and returned to their evil ways and the prophesy came true.
Some are saying this pandemic is from God. It is His judgement upon the earth for our sins. Maybe it is, but even so, if we repent God will turn His wrath from us. This may be from God or from the evil plots of men, but if we repent God will forgive us, heal His people, and restore our lands. Is Jesus weeping over the earth now as He did for Jerusalem? Will mankind know that our time for Salvation is now?
Warriors we are going to pray for a worldwide rival. I don't want to ignore what has happened just because it hasn't happened to me. I want to have God's heart for His people. The Bible tells us Jesus died so that none would perish. Revelation says that every tribe and tongue will be represented in heaven. We pray for worldwide revival. Will we recognize our time of visitation.
Father, we cannot ignore the signs of the time. I pray for You to send Your Holy Spirit to minister to people all over the world. I ask for their eyes to be opened. Some are angry that they have lost loved ones without having a chance to say good-bye. I ask for You to minister to their broken hearts and call them to Yourself with Your love. I pray for those who have chosen to go their own way, like lambs who left the flock and Jesus left the 99 to go after the one. I ask for You to seek out the one who has chosen to live life without You, away from Your protection, without Your provision, wanting to find their own way apart form You. Go and rescue them from the dangers they find themselves, hold them close, speak words of life. I pray they will trust You. They will know You were never a prison but a provision for them. I ask for You to give understanding to those who hold You responsible for this pandemic and the outbreak of the coronavirus. I pray You would reveal to them how You intervened because of the prayers of the saints. It didn't get as bad as was projected, because Your warriors prayed and continue to pray. I ask for You to make known the Saving grace of Jesus Christ to all mankind, every tribe and every tongue. I am asking for worldwide revival. I ask for You to give understanding of Your love, You sent Your Son to be our Savior. I pray You would open the hearts and minds of all people to receive Jesus as their Lord and Savior. I pray we would respond as the people of Nineveh and repent, turning from our sins and turning to Jesus. I pray we would teach our children and our children's children. We would press it upon their hearts how You saved us from the coronavirus and economic downfall. We would not let a generation pass without hearing our testimony of what You did to save our nation and our world. I ask for the love of Jesus that was demonstrated through staying on the cross to be known all over the world. I pray for revival in our hearts and for our land in Jesus' name amen.
