Warriors Arise: March 9, 2023
1 Chronicles 16:1-3 (NKJV) So they brought the ark of God, and set it in the midst of the tabernacle that David had erected for it. Then they offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before God. 2 And when David had finished offering the burnt offerings and the peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the Lord. 3 Then he distributed to everyone of Israel, both man and woman, to everyone a loaf of bread, a piece of meat, and a cake of raisins.
I have a friend who used to cater. David gave everyone, both man and woman, a loaf of bread, piece of meat and a cake of raisins. That is a tremendous amount of food! I have no idea how David would have planned for this event. It says that he distributed to everyone of Israel. I'm sure he didn't go to everyone's house, but everyone who came, received.
It had been a long day. They met out at Obed Edom's house and brought the ark of God to the City of David. Six steps after the processional began they stopped to build an altar and burn offerings. Finally, they place the ark of God in the tent. The excitement had to be building with every step closer to the city of David and then to the tent. Not many would have stopped to eat. There would have been to much FOMO: Fear Of Missing Out.
If you were close enough to see the ark of God, the priests and/or David, you would not have wanted to lose your place. Maybe that is just me; but if I was there, I would be going to get the most out of this historical event. Ask my husband and kids. I will have all of them hustling from one line to the next at any theme park, water park, science museum, living history, or the Iowa State Fair, etc. I don't want to miss out and I don't want them to miss out. I may not get up too early at home; but when we are on vacation, I am up and ready to experience as much as I can where we are. There are not guarantees we are coming back so it is now or never. My kids might have come up with FOMO to describe me before it was even a thing. I am not sure I am afraid of missing out, but if I am there I would not miss it.
I love seeing my children exerpience things for the first time. I take in their looks and wide-eyed expressions, "Mom! Mom! Mom!" as they tug at my sleeve or when they were little they would tug on my shorts. It was so fun to experience it through their eyes. My heart overflowed with joy when they invited me into their new reality. It really is a blessing like no other. I would even let them have Pepsi, the real deal, just so they wouldn't tucker out and we could stay until the doors closed. It was all worth it.
If I lived back in this time period, I have no doubt I would have had my kids there ready when David arrived to start the procession and we would have joined in the processional. We also would have stayed to the very end. This was monumental. I would not have missed it for anything!
How about now? Where is God in your life? Do you see him active and blessing your life?Do you see Him active in and blessing the lives of others, like David saw with Obed Edom? Are you ready to go to God and be a carrier of His Spirit, the Holy Spirit in your life? God created you as the tent He wants to reside. It is a time of celebration when people of God, actually pursue God and make a place for Him to reside in their life.
Father, what a day to be present. I come before you in pursuit of You. I desire to have You in my life. I am not perfect and have tried to live parts of my life without You. Today, I purse You. Today, I seek to have You reside within me. I give You all of me. There may be changes You make, but every change directed by You only brings me more into Your likeness, doing what You desire to accomplish through me. Come and dwell within me. Come and direct my life. I will pursue You and I desire to have You lead me in Jesus' name amen.
