Warriors Arise: November 16, 2023
Matthew 5:31-32 “Furthermore it has been said, ‘Whoever divorces his wife, let him give her a certificate of divorce.’ But I say to you that whoever divorces his wife for any reason except sexual immorality causes her to commit adultery; and whoever marries a woman who is divorced commits adultery.
These verses are a little scary. There are some things I am not willing to leave up to chance. I do not believe a person can lose their Salvation. If a person has truly had the experience where they confessed their sin, believe Jesus died to save them from their sins and made Him their Savior and Lord, then I believe they are saved. But honestly, that is between them and God.
If that same person, who at some point, turns away from God and embraces being an atheist, agnostic, Satanist, Scientologist, or any number of religions that do not follow the Word of God, then they would be the adulterer in Jesus' statement above. Even if we have embraced idols and worship them other than our Creator, we have committed adultery in our relationship with Jesus.
Jesus is coming back for a Bride. When He returns finds His Bride, His people, have given their heart to another god or religion outside of Christianity then they may be receiving a certificate of divorce.
Rather than debate the issue, you and I have to ask God for further understanding. It isn't about Jesus wanting to give us a certificate of divorce, it is about drawing close to Him so we remain faithful to Him. We do not want to run out of oil before the Bridegroom comes.
Father, I come before You today. I want to be continually being filled with Your Spirit, with the oil that will keep my lamp lit as I wait for You. I pray I have fiery passion to pursue You and keep my eye upon You. I want to be found faithful and true. I want my ways to honor You and bring You glory. I to remain in Your love and share it with others. I pray my heart will not be given to another, I will remain faithful to You, in Jesus' name amen.
