Warriors Arise: March 2, 2023
1 Chronicles 16:1 (NKJV) So they brought the ark of God, and set it in the midst of the tabernacle that David had erected for it. Then they offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before God.
What is the significance of a burnt offering? The Bible lists and explains several offerings given to God for different reasons. I searched the Scripture and the asked my husband, "Will you break it down in simple terms? What is the significance of a burnt offering"?
Thankfully with as knowledgable as my husband is, he can break this down for me in simple terms and understanding. A burnt offering means everything being offered will be given to the Lord. The individual is holding nothing back. The individual is not keeping something for himself. David has been worshipping through the streets, holding nothing back. He makes this burnt offering to God as a symbol of honor, that he is holding nothing back. He will not only worship God with all that is within him, but he will also give to God all of the offering. He does not need what is God's.
How about for you? What kind of an offering would you make to God? As I go before God, I ask myself, "Am I holding anything back? What is Yours and am I taking some for myself? Am I withholding any of the tithe? You only ask for 10%. Am I giving 10%? Am I giving an offering as You direct or am I holding onto the extra of what You have given me for myself?"
Father, I come before You and ask for You to search me. Am I holding anything back from You? I want You to have the very best of what I have to offer. I do not want to withhold from You anything that is Yours. I definitely do not want to keep something for myself that is to be given to You. I want my offering to be complete. I want to give as if I was giving a burnt offering, everything I give to be Yours. I will worship You with all that I am and with everything that is within me. I will give as if I am giving a burnt offering. I will not keep something for myself. You provide more than enough and I do not need to take what is to be given to You. I will give You all and give it as a burnt offering to You in Jesus' name amen.
