Warriors Arise: September 1, 2022
1 Samuel 18:5 (NKJV) So David went out wherever Saul sent him, and behaved wisely. And Saul set him over the men of war, and he was accepted in the sight of all the people and also in the sight of Saul's servants.
Why is David accepted in the sight of all the people? The people accepted David, because he took a stand against the enemy and won. Not only did he win but he rallied the warriors to chase the Philistines off of their land. The Philisitnes were constantly battling Israel. Every time Israel did nothing or lost the battle the Philistines would build a garrison to fortify their position. They had no right to the land God had given the Israelites. But the Israelites would not honor the gift God had given them and fight for what was theirs. Maybe they would not join together and fight. Maybe they would rather inconvenience family and move in with them since the Philistines had moved onto their land and into their houses. But that doesn't make their actions right. David was accepted by the people, because he acted when he heard the enemy's threats. They were getting too close to his home. If he didn't do anything now, what he knew as home would be gone the next time the Philistine's advanced.
Deep within, we want to be that person who stands against the enemy. We want to be brave, courageous and the victor but we are unsure if it will work out for us like it did for David. There is always the possibility of something going wrong. But, when we seek the Lord with all our heart and surrender to Him, He will lead us with wisdom, power, and might. He will cause us to be victorious. This leads to asking ourselves, "Why will I not confront the enemy?"
Go ahead, asked yourself that question. "Why will I not confront the enemy?"
Listen.
Wait on the Lord.
Listen.
Wait on the Lord.
Ask again, "Why will I not confront the enemy?" Now, wait for God to answer.
The people accepted, David because he gave them freedom and hope, when he fought the enemy.
James 4:7 (NKJV) Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
David submitted to God, as He compelled him to take a stand. He resisted the Philistine and he died while the rest of them fled. Fight the enemy who stands before you. Look at your life, where would God say you have given up the gift He has given you?
Father, forgive me. I need You to reveal to me why I will not confront the enemy. I will wait on You. I will listen. I will silence my mind and listen to You. I ask for courage to take a stand against he enemy. I ask for the truth behind the battle. I ask to see why the enemy is stealing from me. I ask to see what would happen if I took the fight to the enemy and got back everything he has stolen from me and my family. You are amazing in all of your ways. You can reveal to me why I have allowed the enemy to camp on my land, in the gift You have given me. I will submit to You, resist the enemy and he will flee in Jesus' name amen.
