Are You Ready?

Warriors Arise: July 21, 2023

Matthew 4:1 (NKJV) Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.

Ready or not, Jesus allowed the Holy Spirit to lead Him into the wilderness. Holy Spirit knew Jesus would be tempted by the devil. Holy Spirit knew He would defeat the devil on his own turf. Jesus was ready. He had who He needed. God had given Him the Holy Spirit.

I do not know why the Lord allows the enemy to tempt Jesus, His Son. But I can definitely learn from it. Jesus was not afraid to face the enemy. He didn't have his family with Him or His friends. But, God spoke to Him, blessed Him and the Holy Spirit came with Him. He was not alone. There are times and sometimes I find it better to face the enemy with the Holy Spirit with me rather than family or friends. No doubt about it, I like to know they are praying or I can get counsel from them, but there are some personal battles we have to fight by ourself, but we aren't alone. We have the Holy Spirit. In the days to come, we will get into the temptations the devil puts before Jesus. They apply to us as well. However, today, I want to share about how important it is to know God is not only for us to overcome the enemy, but He has sent the Holy Spirit to empower us to defeat every temptation the enemy throws at us.

When I receive Jesus Christ as my Savior and Lord, I do not recall a dove coming down from heaven and landing on me. When I was baptized, I do not recall a dove coming down for heaven and landing on me. However, I do remember feelings cleansed from my sin and at peace. It was a peace that gave me hope and confidence that no matter what happened God would always be with me. I had to learn how to engage with God and the Holy Spirit. In my learning my relationship began to develop and be strengthened. I had to learn how to talk with them and engage them throughout my day and not just at my night time devotion and prayers. I had to understand that just because I couldn't see them, it didn't mean they weren't there. They were waiting on me. They were ready to participate in my life as my constant companion, best friend and wise counsel. They were ready to cheer me on, get me ready for the battles ahead, and give revelation of Scripture. They were ready to listen to my days events, hear my prayers and speak to encourage, direct, and empower me. They are ready for a relationship you and I. We have the opportunity to engage in the best relationship possible in life. They are ready. God is ready. Jesus is ready. The Holy Spirit is ready. Are you ready?

Father, this is difficult to receive. There are times, I don't want to be tempted by the devil. I don't want to have to face him again. I didn't want to face him the first time. I still don't want to face him, but now I know You are always with me. I place my confidence in You. Now, I know You will lead me to the Scriptures I need to defeat the enemy. I will not wait for the enemy to come. I will ready myself in Your word, listening to Your voice and following You. I will ready mind to be set on You, I will ready my heart to be steadfast, I will ready my spirit to be strong because I am not alone. You go before me. Jesus is interceding for me. The Holy Spirit is with me. I will be ready because my confidence in is You in Jesus' name amen.
