Warriors Arise: December 26, 2023
Matthew 6:9 & 10 In this manner, therefore, pray:
Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
What an audacious prayer! Jesus taught His disciples to pray to their Father in heaven, Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. I am not sure why Scripture lists "Your will be done" on one line and then "on earth as it is in heaven" on the next line. There is no punctuation to end the thought of "Your will be done". Therefore, "Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven" is one complete thought. However, it could have been written to emphasize His point.
What do you imagine heaven to be like? Before reading on, I challenge you to sit moment and think about what You know and believe about God and His domain, His rule in heaven. If you have time, write it down and verses that support what you know.
Jesus is strategic in the order of teaching us to pray. He drops the bomb of our Father's desire with power. "Your kingdom come", had to blow their mind. Did it blow your's? Can you believe Jesus taught His disciples and those of us who are willing to believe what is written in the Bible, that God our Father desires for His kingdom to come to earth?
Why would God want us to pray for His kingdom to come?
Why does God want us to pray for His will to be done on earth as it is in heaven?
There is a correlation between what God desires to release here on earth and our praying to receive what He wants to give. Many of us have exchanged gifts over the celebration of Christ's coming to earth in the past couple of days or weeks or maybe in the next couple of days or weeks. There is something important about the way we receive a gift that can add value to the gift.
When we are expecting the gift, there is great anticipation, hope is alive and we have faith someone is going to get us what we have seen and asked for. It is presumptuous for someone to see something they want and never tell someone they want it. Humans are not mind readers. However, if one operates in the Spiritual gift of the word of knowledge, they would know something they did not have previous information. That is given by way of the Holy Spirit.
Jesus wants us to pray audaciously for our Father's will to be done here on earth. He wants it to be done based on knowing what heaven is like and how God reigns there. Jesus wants you and I to know the gift God is wanting us to pray we will receive. He wants us to pray His kingdom in heaven to come to earth, that is His desire, that is the will of God.
Will you pray to solidify what you know about heaven and God's reign in heaven?
Will you pray for God's will to be fulfilled?
Will you pray audaciously "Kingdom of heaven come, will of God be done here on earth as it is in heaven?
My Father who is in heaven, hallowed, holy, righteous is Your name. Your kingdom come in the fullness of how You reign and what You established in heaven to earth as You desire. I ask for curiosity to dig into Your Word to learn what it is like in heaven. I ask for my mind to expand with what You will show me in Your Word about how You rule in heaven. I pray for understanding and application of what You reveal. I pray for courage to pray and declare Your kingdom to be released and established here on earth in my life and the lives of all who believer in Jesus' name amen.
