Warriors Arise: December 3, 2020
1 Samuel 30:17 (NKJV) Then David attacked them from twilight until the evening of the next day. Not a man of them escaped, except four hundred young men who rode on camels and fled.
Unless you have served in active duty during wartime, you and I probably have no idea what it would be like to fight from twilight until the evening of the next day. I have pulled some all-nighters before. But this is more than just driving through the night to get somewhere. These men were in BATTLE 12-16 hours.
There were no reinforcements on the way. David and his 400 men were it. It was a do or die moment for each one of them. This chance would not come again. Once they engage in battle they would be fighting for their own life and their own freedom. If they didn't win they would either be killed or become slaves along side their wives and children.
When going into battle it is important to keep things into perspective. Your yes has to be greater than the other person's yes. Your reason to fight has to be at the forefront of your mind. David and his men were fighting for their lives, their freedom and their families.
Satan thrives on those who do not want to be bothered with him. He expands his territory in our lives when we do not see where he is lying to us. Every lie we buy into gives him more access to controlling our lives. David and his men could have remained in Ziklag because the devil told them, "You don't have enough men to fight. The men wouldn't make it. You will never find the people who took your wives and children and burned your city to the ground." But they didn't!
Satan expands his influence in our lives every time God tells us what we need to do and choose not to. David and his men could have looked at the camp of the Amalekites and been discouraged. Hearing in their ear, from satan, "There are too many of them. What if when we attack they kill our wives and children?" This is impossible! But they knew God wouldn't bring them this far only to end their pursuit. They could have turned around. But they didn't!
Satan laughs at us when he sees we are putting ourselves in a position of defeat. You listened to God and look where he took you. Satan jeers, "You won't make it out of this alive. This is what He does to everyone, bring them into impossible life-threatening situations and then lets them give their all for nothing." David and his men could have been defeated in the battle because their hearts were overwhelmed by the task before them. But they weren't.
David and his men were all in. God had not led them astray but brought them to their enemy. The first part of what God said was already true. Now, they had to stand together, fight together, and recover all, just like God had told them.
From the twilight, before the sun was up until the after the sun had gone down they were in heat of the battle. There are times when the enemy spews forth his lies to get you to quit because he knows if you keep going you will see what God promised. You will become your testimony.
The last thing the devil wants is for you to have a testimony of what God has done for you. He knows when you have a testimony, you have power. This power strengthens your faith to believe for the next time the devil comes to strike at you.
We are to be people who show up to the battleground and fight to remove the enemy who has stolen from us. We are to stand together. When we see the enemy and remember what God has said, we are to engage in the battle until the enemy is gone.
What lies has the enemy told you?
Do you live free of the lies?
Do you see the enemy?
Will you fight the enemy in prayer?
Will you pull out the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God and use it?
Will you fight for as long as it takes?
Father, I am so tired of the enemy lying to me. I know that is what he does and he is good at it. I desire to have Your Word in my heart and mind. I want to recognize the lies and cut them to shreds with the Word of God. I do not want to be discouraged when I see the enemy. I want to see the enemy and remember what You have promised. I do not want to be fainthearted when the battle is raging around me. I want to be able to pull out my sword, cut down the enemy and all his lies. It is Your strength that flows through me. I ask for You to guide me in the battle and hear my prayers. It is Your wisdom that leads me to know how to fight the battle. It is Your Word that gives me hope when the enemy tries to tell me I am fighting a losing battle. The only one who will lose when I engage and remain steady in the battle is the enemy. Thank you for Your Word. It is the Rock I stand upon. You are faithful. Wherever You tell me to go, I will go. When you tell me to fight, I will pull out my sword and defeat the enemy who surrounds me. I ask for You to come into the battle. The enemy has created all kinds of fraud, money exchanged, stolen ballots from retirement homes, submitting false ballots, denying people the right to vote and be represented. I ask for You to come, shine Your light into the darkness. I ask for the things that were done in darkness to be brought to the light and judged accordingly. I ask for the truth to be made known. I pray for every false, inaccurate vote to be removed from the count. The enemy would tell people to quit and just give up because the darkness is impossible to penetrate; but You are the Light. Your light pushes back the darkness and reveals the truth. I pray we would come together and life up those who are at the front lines defending those who have been wronged in the 2020 election. I thank you for Your lovingkindness to not give up on us. I thank You for moving forward, to push back the darkness in Jesus' name amen.
