Celebrate the Victory

Warriors Arise: September 3, 2022

1 Samuel 18:6 (NKJV) Now it had happened as they were coming home, when David was returning from the slaughter of the Philistine, that the women had come out of all the cities of Israel, singing and dancing, to meet King Saul, with tambourines, with joy, and with musical instruments.

This is good. When we slaughter the enemy, we should celebrate. We should celebrate each victory. It is a reminder of what God has done, is doing and will do again. It is a celebration that we did join God, we are joining God, and we will join God again. The women came out to meet King Saul with singing, dancing, tambourines, joy, and with musical instruments. Do you celebrate your victories that way?

  • With singing?

  • With dancing?

  • With tambourines?

  • With joy?

  • With musical instruments?

Do you celebrate your victories that way? Why not? It is Biblical. Aren't you grateful? Why do we think there is no need to celebrate the victory? It is a big deal when we slaughter the enemy.

The men had won the victory and that needs to be celebrated, just like your victories over the enemy need to be celebrated. Think of what it would have meant if their men had lost. Several of the women would have been widowed and their children orphaned. Many would have lost their lands and homes. When the Philistines won the battle they always built a garrison to protect what they had just won. This garrison was a fortress to all who saw it. It would remind the Israelites of their defeat. It would also give little hope of ever getting back what was lost in battle. It can happen. They can go to war again and fight to get what they lost, but it doesn't happen without some loss of life, land and homes until the enemy's garrison is overtaken and lands retrieved. We see in 1 Samuel 14:1-23, that Jonathan and his armor bearer overtake a Philistine garrison and that was a great victory as well. However, it was not celebrated as it should have been.

Where have you been victorious over the enemy in your life?

  • Please stop and remember.

  • Remember a time when you have been victorious over the enemy.

  • The enemy steals time, causes division in relationships, destroys our destiny with disappointment that leads to discouragement.

  • Remember when God intervened and something that was going to steal your time was turned into having more time.

  • Remember when God intervened and restored a friendship, a conflict with your kids was resolved and your relationship was make stronger, an argument that had escalated beyond reconciliation with your spouse wound up exposing the real hurt, pain or fear and you were able to unite without feeling like there was anything in between.

  • Remember when things just weren't coming together for a job you wanted or a ministry event you were planning, but God gave you a better job and the event went better than you had ever expected.

Why do we have a difficult time remembering the victory in these events in our lives? They have happened for all of us, at least if we are willing to follow God. Because God will alway provide a way for time to be redeemed, relationships to be restored and the work of our hands to be blessed. It doesn't mean we didn't have to fight the enemy when he was challenging us, taking what was ours. It means we stood up to the giant, the one who was threatening to take from us and we walked onto the battlefield, saw God empower us to take down the giant and rout the enemy. Don't forget to celebrate what God has done. Do not go back to the easy of life and forget to celebrate the victory for what it really is.

I own what is mine, if I am the one who got behind or added one more thing to do so time ran out. I seek forgiveness from God and I do not make excuses to those I was late meeting. I own my mistake in relationships that are disconnected. I seek to find out what I have done or if there is a way to reconcile. I can't fix or make a mend if I do not know there is a tear. Again, I seek forgiveness and bring God into the equation. God is for reconciliation. He knows we were designed to work together. If an event, something in my business or ministry is disjointed and there doesn't seem to be a clear flow, I seek the Lord and ask for divine wisdom. God willl, because His word says He will, cause the work of my hands to prosper. He wants each one of us to succeed in what we have put our hands to. We need to see God desires for each one of us to recognize the enemy challenging us for what God has already given us. We need to see God empowering us to defeat our enemy. We need to step into agreement with God and take down the enemy. We need to then celebrate the victory with God.

Father, as I remember, there are so many times You and I came out of the battle victorious. You led me in victory. I am having difficulty remembering if I even thanked You for the victory. Thank you for the courage to trust You and go into battle against the enemy. Thank You for giving me the faith to believe You would join me in the battle. I would never fight alone as long as I was stepping onto the battlefield with You. Thank you for all the times I was in the midst of a battle I didn't even see and You called me to rise up and pray. Other times You gave me the words I needed to humble myself and make things right. Thank you for the times I was discouraged and felt defeated but You ignited within me the desire to rise again and face the enemy in Your strength. Thank you for Your amazing love that removes fear. I will rise and defeat the enemy and then I will celebrate the victory with worship and adoration to You. You are the one who leads me into triumph and I will praise You for the victory in Jesus' name amen.
