Warriors Arise: April 16, 2023
1 Chronicles 16:7-34 (NKJV) On that day David first delivered this psalm into the hand of Asaph and his brethren, to thank the Lord:
8 Oh, give thanks to the Lord!
Call upon His name;
Make known His deeds among the peoples!
9 Sing to Him, sing psalms to Him;
Talk of all His wondrous works!
10 Glory in His holy name;
Let the hearts of those rejoice who seek the Lord!
11 Seek the Lord and His strength;
Seek His face evermore!
12 Remember His marvelous works which He has done,
His wonders, and the judgments of His mouth,
13 O seed of Israel His servant,
You children of Jacob, His chosen ones!
14 He is the Lord our God;
His judgments are in all the earth.
15 Remember His covenant forever,
The word which He commanded, for a thousand generations,
16 The covenant which He made with Abraham,
And His oath to Isaac,
17 And confirmed it to Jacob for a statute,
To Israel for an everlasting covenant,
18 Saying, “To you I will give the land of Canaan
As the allotment of your inheritance,”
19 When you were few in number,
Indeed very few, and strangers in it.
20 When they went from one nation to another,
And from one kingdom to another people,
21 He permitted no man to do them wrong;
Yes, He rebuked kings for their sakes,
22 Saying, “Do not touch My anointed ones,
And do My prophets no harm.”
23 Sing to the Lord, all the earth;
Proclaim the good news of His salvation from day to day.
24 Declare His glory among the nations,
His wonders among all peoples.
25 For the Lord is great and greatly to be praised;
He is also to be feared above all gods.
26 For all the gods of the peoples are idols,
But the Lord made the heavens.
27 Honor and majesty are before Him;
Strength and gladness are in His place.
28 Give to the Lord, O families of the peoples,
Give to the Lord glory and strength.
29 Give to the Lord the glory due His name;
Bring an offering, and come before Him.
Oh, worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness!
30 Tremble before Him, all the earth.
The world also is firmly established,
It shall not be moved.
31 Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad;
And let them say among the nations, “The Lord reigns.”
32 Let the sea roar, and all its fullness;
Let the field rejoice, and all that is in it.
33 Then the trees of the woods shall rejoice before the Lord,
For He is coming to judge the earth.
34 Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good!
For His mercy endures forever.
Do you believe the Lord, He is good? It is a real question and we need to answer it. Do you belive the Lord is good to all? Do you believe the Lord is good to others? Do you believe the Lord is good to you? These are valid questions. Until we embrace the Lord's love, personally, we struggle to believe and profess the truth about God.
Yes, the Lord, Himself can be good.
Yes, the Lord can be good to all.
Yes, the Lord can be good to others.
Yes, the Lord can be good to me.
Changing the "is" to "can" changes everything. We really can't begin our answer with yes, because the statement changes its meaning when we substitute can with is. God is not human; He is good. He is good to all. He is good to others and He is good to me. Can you say that and not have a hesitation in your response?
When you and I do not believe God is good, then we struggle to give Him praise. When we make God human, with flaws, then we do not know God. God is not flawed. He is good all the time. He is good to all. He is good to others and He is good to me and me. So, where is the problems in our thinking? We think if things aren't perfect in our life, God is not good. It is our thinking that is flawed. We were never promised a flawless life. Matter-of-fact, Jesus says we will have trouble in this life. But he also says, we will overcome just as He overcame. We are not the victims; we are the victors. In the midst of the battle, struggle or pain, God meets us, offers His hand, so that we can rise to our feet. Then He leads us out. God is good.
When the battle rises, the struggle intensifies, or the pain seems overwhelming, I look to see God. He is always there and He provides the way out. He makes the crooked places straight and gives me the straight I need to rise and walk with Him. God is so very good! This is why I look forward to worshipping Him today. He has been so good to me. This week has been uncommonly crazy. It has seemed like I was in a street fight. I was blindsided by a sucker punch and when I thought the enemy had gone and everything was ok, he came back again for another round. But God, He strengthened me and I was not overtaken. I wasn't even knocked to the ground. I doubled over, but God stepped in and defended me. He gave me strength and I put my trust tin Him. He would work all things out for my good and I will walked out unharmed. This crazy week, gives me more of a reason to praise my Lord today!
Father, I know You are good. As I think about this week and all that has gone on, there is no doubt in my mind that You are good. You are good to me and Your love overflows into my life. I saw You come in and be my champion. I recognized Your peace in the midst of the chaos. I heard Your heartbeat as You carried me in Your arms. You did not leave me, You were right there with me. I praise Your name! You are my Rock and my place of Refuge. You are my Strong Tower and the Standard I follow. You are my Strength when I am weak and my courage to rise again. You are the breath in my lungs and the nourishment to my body. I praise You today for You are good, in Jesus' name amen.
