Warriors Arise: November 15, 2022
John 15:15-16 (NKJV) No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you. 16 You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.
In the 4th relationship, God invites us to be His friend. This is significant. Jesus makes sure we understand, He no longer calls us servants. He wants to make sure we understand why, "A servant does not know what his master is doing." Jesus wants us to know what He is doing. It isn't a secret. He wants His disciples to be fully vested in His Father's business of kingdom advancement. He wants us to know what He is doing.
Secondly, friends do not just happen. Friendships are chosen. You and I were chosen by God to be His friend. Friends are people who do things because their friend asked, insisted, or compelled them. These are things that they wouldn't normally do. Friends tell the secrets of their heart and ambitions. Friends are looking for others who will join them in preparing for what they want to do and want to accomplish. Friends are the ones who will stick around and do the difficult things with you, they will do the crazy things with you, and they will do the exciting things with you.
Then Jesus tells His friends the opportunity He is creating for them. He wants them to bear fruit, but not just any fruit, He wants fruit that should remain. He wants souls to be saved, because we have testified of His Father's love. We have not given up. We have not turned back. We go and do because we have seen our friend, Jesus, go and do.
Jesus chose you because He saw greatness in you. He saw that you are capable of growing fruit. He saw you having the heart to develop fruit that will last. He chose you.
Father, You chose me. I am in awe. You chose me. You wanted me to be a part of Your kingdom and the advancement of Your kingdom. You chose me. You didn't have to but You did. Thank You for choosing me. Thank You for teaching me about friendship. Thank You for calling me to be Your friend. Thank You for teaching me how to relate to You as my friend. I need more understanding of what it means to be Your friend. I also need to understand how to related to You as my friend. You are my God. I want You to be close to me. I want You to be my friend. I want to be Your friend. Thank You for drawing me to Yourself and calling me to be Your friend. You are amazing. Your love is beyond my comprehension. I will learn how to relate to You as my friend and be Your friend in Jesus' name amen.
