Warriors Arise: January 30, 2022
Luke 19:1-5 (NKJV) Then Jesus entered and passed through Jericho. 2 Now behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus who was a chief tax collector, and he was rich. 3 And he sought to see who Jesus was, but could not because of the crowd, for he was of short stature. 4 So he ran ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see Him, for He was going to pass that way. 5 And when Jesus came to the place, He looked up and saw him, and said to him, “Zacchaeus, make haste and come down, for today I must stay at your house.”
Can you imagine having Jesus come up to you and say, "Today I must stay at your house?" What would that be like? Jesus wants to stay at your house. Could you stay calm? Let's say everything was clean and in order at your house. Let's skip past all of that. I don't know if anyone would ever feel like their house was clean enough to have Jesus come stay. So, what does that say about us?
There are times when God approaches us, but we put a barrier up. We may not even realize we do it. His presence pours out from the courts of heaven and reaches us here on earth. He draws near to us in our time of need. There are times we turn away, because we know we can never be clean enough, just like our house would never be clean enough for Jesus to come stay. But Jesus didn't care about how clean Zacchaeus' house was, He cared about Zacchaeus. Jesus placed value on him. Jesus could have stayed at anyone's house but instead He chose to stay at Zacchaeus'.
When Jesus comes to you, will you take Him to your house? There are areas of my life I can never get clean enough for Jesus. I need Jesus, the greatest cleaning agent ever. I need Him to meet me, call to me, and come into my house, my life to cleanse me of all my sin. I need His presence in my life every day. I need to know the goodness of His ways and the power of His love. I need to yield my thoughts to His thoughts. I need to allow Him to touch my heart so it beats for Him. I need Him to clean out my ears, so I will recognize His voice. I need my eyesight restored, so I can join Him where He is at work.
Father, come into my life. I open my heart up to You. I ask for You to fill me with Your love. I pray for hope to grow within me. I pray for my mind to wrap around Your goodness, wisdom, and Your peace that surpasses all understanding. I thank you for choosing me. I love you and desire to grow in Your ways every day in Jesus' name amen.
