Warriors Arise: October 31, 2021
Luke 17:11-19 (NKJV) Now it happened as He went to Jerusalem that He passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee. 12 Then as He entered a certain village, there met Him ten men who were lepers, who stood afar off. 13 And they lifted up their voices and said, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!” 14 So when He saw them, He said to them, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And so it was that as they went, they were cleansed. 15 And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, returned, and with a loud voice glorified God, 16 and fell down on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks. And he was a Samaritan. 17 So Jesus answered and said, “Were there not ten cleansed? But where are the nine? 18 Were there not any found who returned to give glory to God except this foreigner?” 19 And He said to him, “Arise, go your way. Your faith has made you well.”
"And so it was"
"That as they went"
"They were cleansed"
We can run ahead to "they were cleansed" but we need to see what preceded their cleansing. I am truly thankful to know that when we follow what God has told us to do, He will act on our behalf. He did not tell them to go show themselves so they would be cast away by the priest and rejected by society. He sent them back because the ones who closed the door on them would now be the ones who opened the door.
If you do not return then you may still feel like you are not healed. If you do not return to where God tells you to go, yes, you will be healed; however, you may not have complete restoration. So many times we do not fulfill what God has told us. We go with every intention of doing what God has said but then once we noticed that we are cleansed and His forgiveness has washed us clean, then we don't fulfill the command. God not only wants to heal us, but He wants us to be received back into the community, church and every relationship to be reconciled. I celebrate that these lepers were cleansed. I celebrate God and worship Him for the healing He does in each of our lives. I worship God for His lovingkindness is amazing. Something should happen inside of us when we recognize God's healing work has taken place in us. You would be surprised at how many people call out to God to be healed and God heals them; however, they do not acknowledge the fact that they have been healed. They continue to walk around as if they are lepers. Each one of these lepers is cleansed. They were healed. Their healing came when they did what Jesus said to do, "They were cleansed."
Father, there are so many times I called out to you to be healed. But I am not sure I acknowledged Your healing in my life. Today, I worship You and thank You for all the times You healed me. I praise Your name, the Name above all names, the love that extends to every circumstance and situation in my life. You are my Rock and I will worship You. You have made me whole and cleansed me body, soul, and spirit. From this day forward, I want to acknowledge every time You have healed me and give You glory in Jesus' name amen.
