Numbers 6:22-26 (NKJV)
And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: 23 “Speak to Aaron and his sons, saying, ‘This is the way you shall bless the children of Israel. Say to them:
24 “The Lord bless you and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face shine upon you,
And be gracious to you;
26 The Lord lift up His countenance upon you,
And give you peace.” ’
Season three of The Chosen is here! Last night I watched the episode where Jesus speaks this over His disciples! How cool is that! Don't you love it when God confirms what you are doing? I am writing about the blessing in Numbers chapter 6 and visiting family in Texas who set us up to watch some of the episodes from season three. I didn't even know the episodes were available. God is so fun! He puts us in the right place to confirm His Word, what He is speaking to us. When the Lord does this, I have to take some time and listen. I ask questions.
What exactly are you saying?
What do you want me to do with this?
How does this apply to me?
With each question, I have to pause and listen. I cannot deny God is wanting to speak to me through this particular passage. He emphasized it when we watched The Chosen tonight. I about fell out of my seat. "What? Of all the Scriptures in tonight's episode and it happens to be the very one I have been writing about. " It was a Selah moment. You will see the word Selah after phrases or passages in the Psalms. It generally is set off to the right side as a closing. Putting Selah at then end of a phrase or passage is like putting an exclamation at the end. It means to listen up, stop and think about what has just been said. That is exactly how I feel about Numbers 6: 24-26. We are to stop and think about this. Embrace it. Write it on our heart and let is resonate in our mind.
24 “The Lord bless you and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face shine upon you,
And be gracious to you;
26 The Lord lift up His countenance upon you,
And give you peace.” ’
Two things, when God does this to you, stop and listen. As I read back through and really dwell in these verses. God is wanting to make sure you really get it. This means is has to move from head knowledge to living it.
Father, it is a blessing when You confirm what You are saying. I stand in awe of You. I know You want me to know You and live in the fullness of Your amazing love. I know You want to guide me and position me for Your great work. I know You want me to receive from You. What I receive, I can give. However, until I receive, I cannot give. I am full of gratitude when you highlight or confirm Your Word in my life. It is easy to take the next step with You. You know exactly what I need. You know exactly how to prepare me for what is coming. I pray I receive the fullness of this revelation and these verses so I have what I need for what lies ahead, in Jesus' name amen.
