Warriors Arise - April 3rd, 2020
Not just any show will do. Even God knew we needed the proper footwear for a battle. Ephesians 6:15 and having shod your feet with the preparation the gospel of peace. Have you ever thought about how powerful peace can be?
In John 14:27 Jesus gives His disciples a gift, not just any gift, but the gift of peace. It seems like an unusual gift. If I were there, I might have asked for something different but Jesus was trying to prepare them. What is the opposite of peace? Well, in John 14:27 Jesus says, “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” The opposite of peace is trouble. Trouble can mean anything that is anything that is causing you stress, fear or anxiety. What is troubling you? Disputes, being wronged, loss of life, sickness? The list can go on. At the end of the verse, Jesus tells them to not let their hearts be troubled, neither let it be afraid. Trouble leads to fear. For the most part, we cannot stop the trouble right in front of us today, the attack and spread of the corona virus. However, what we can do is stop the “trouble” from overtaking us with fear.
2 Timothy 1:7 says, God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of love, power and a sound mind. Don’t underestimate the Holy Spirit who gives you a sound mind. What your mind believes your heart will endorse. Your mind is the gateway to your heart. Guard your gate. Speak to the threat and tell it to go away.
Jesus demonstrated the power of peace in Mark 4:35-41. Jesus told the disciples, “Let us cross over to the other side.” While on their way a great windstorm arose; the waves beat against the boat and water began filling the boat. Jesus was at the stern asleep on a pillow. They awakened Him, “Teacher do you not care that we are about to perish?” Then Jesus arose and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was great calm. Then He said to them, “Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?”
Jesus did not let their fear cause Him to have fear. Be careful how much you listen to the news, friends or family in regard to things that provoke fear in your heart. You have to guard your gate so you can pray with faith. You can either have faith in the enemy’s plans or you can have faith in God’s plans. Jesus knew He was headed to the other side. I’ve read the end of the Bible; this is not how the world ends. Therefore, we can respond as Jesus. Wake up, arise, and rebuke the trouble. Jesus demonstrated the power of peace. He could have said a lot of things to the wind and the waves but He didn’t. He said, “Peace, Be Still!”
Get your shoes of peace, put them on and let’s pray together:
Thank you Jesus for demonstrating the power of peace. Today, I put on the shoes of peace. I want my steps to be sure and to stand against the wiles of the devil. The devil is threatening us from every angle but I will not give him my shoes of peace. I ask for your peace to fill every part of my being. I set my mind on You and Your faithfulness. You demonstrated what we are to do when we are troubled, even to the point of death. We are to release peace. Today, I release the peace of the Living God into my mind to rescue my heart. I will not grow faint in time of battle. I will stand and release Your peace over my thoughts, in my household, in my correspondence to others. I will no longer indulge the enemy. When I see the toll from the devastation of the corona virus, I will release Your peace, mercy and love. When I hear or read of fear being multiplied I will say peace, be still. Those three words were good enough for Jesus. Give me understanding of the power of peace, so I can release that same power to those in fear of the coronavirus. The waves of fear continue to try to cause fear in me, but I will stand at the gate and tell it to go back to where it came from. As a Child of God, I will be protected by the Blood of Jesus which was spilled for my healing. In the name of Jesus, I speak to my mind the truth of God’s mercy and love. I receive Your goodness and tell the enemy to go. Jesus was able to speak, “Peace, be still” and the wind ceased and there was a great calm. In the mighty name of Jesus I speak to the corona virus, “Peace, be still!” I speak to all those who have been overcome with fear, “Peace, be still.” Today, I speak peace to my home. I speak peace to each one in my household who is frustrated with this temporary state of life. I speak peace to the adjusted role each one in my household, each person is responsible for contributing to the wellbeing of our family. I speak peace to attitudes, irritations and outbursts. Holy Spirit come and fill my house with Your peace. Each household has been turned upside down by the affects of the corona virus. Holy Spirit go and minister Your peace to each child, parent and grandparent. Let Your peace reign at this time in each of our lives. Father God, take care of the little ones and give the adults the extra peace they need at this time. In Jesus name Amen!
