Matthew 5:8 Blessed are the pure in heart,
For they shall see God.
How can one be pure in heart? What exactly does that mean? As I search the Scriptures, I find Jesus makes us pure. When we confess our sin, He is faithful and just to forgive us of our sin. Believing, we ask Jesus to forgive us of our sin. We are purified thought the refining process of confession, receiving His forgiveness, and living in victory through the power of Jesus. A pure heart starts with believing something that you haven't seen but know, in your heart to be true.
Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
As we grow into adulthood, the danger is that we grow out of child-like faith, pure faith in God and that He will do everything He said He would do in us, for us, and through us.
Matthew 18:2-4 Then Jesus called a little child to Him, set him in the midst of them, 3 and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. 4 Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
1 Peter 1:22 Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart,
A heart is cleanse by the love of Jesus. We position ourselves before Him and know He is working within us. He desires for our faith to be pure; therefore our heart needs to be made right.
Jeremiah 17:9-10 “The heart is deceitful above all things,
And desperately wicked;
Who can know it?
I, the Lord, search the heart,
I test the mind,
Even to give every man according to his ways,
According to the fruit of his doings.
It is not comforting to know my heart could become deceitful and desperately wicked. However, if I am not watchful, if I stop praising God, if I start making decision without Him, if I depend on my own knowledge, I will become desperately wicked. But that doesn't I have to remain that way. I can position myself before God and He will clean me up. He will purify me. The process my happen in an instant or it may take a while. Sometimes the tendrils of sinful ways can be embedded deep within the heart. I need God to breakthrough the darkness and purify my heart and every thought.
Father, I look to You to search my heart. I desire for it to be pure. I desire for all wickedness to be removed. I ask for You to come and minister Your life to me. I pray for You lovingkindness to cleanse me and make me white as fresh snow that glistens in the sunlight. I pray for my heart to be made pure and my faith to be endless. I know You will do what you have promised. I know You love me every moment of every day. I am Your's and I desire to live each day with a pure heart in Jesus' name amen.
