Warriors Arise: January 4, 2021
Joshua 3:13-17 (NKJV) And it shall come to pass, as soon as the soles of the feet of the priests who bear the ark of the Lord, the Lord of all the earth, shall rest in the waters of the Jordan, that the waters of the Jordan shall be cut off, the waters that come down from upstream, and they shall stand as a heap.”14 So it was, when the people set out from their camp to cross over the Jordan, with the priests bearing the ark of the covenant before the people, 15 and as those who bore the ark came to the Jordan, and the feet of the priests who bore the ark dipped in the edge of the water (for the Jordan overflows all its banks during the whole time of harvest), 16 that the waters which came down from upstream stood still, and rose in a heap very far away at Adam, the city that is beside Zaretan. So the waters that went down into the Sea of the Arabah, the Salt Sea, failed, and were cut off; and the people crossed over opposite Jericho. 17 Then the priests who bore the ark of the covenant of the Lord stood firm on dry ground in the midst of the Jordan; and all Israel crossed over on dry ground, until all the people had crossed completely over the Jordan.
This is pretty amazing! What God has done before He is doing again. When the children of Israel were being pursued by Pharaoh, Moses extended his arm and the water parted. They all walked through on dry ground. Now it is time for them to enter a new territory and they must pass through water again. The water has overflown its banks because it is harvest. When water running over its banks the water is moving fast in the middle. The ground is shifty and well saturated.
This time things are different. Before, Moses lifted up his arms and the water parted. This time the priests were walking to the Jordan River during flood season. The Jordan River was not going to part until the the sole of there foot went to step into the river. They were divinely walking in faith. God will do what He said He would do.
The ark was heavy and the presence of the Lord rested upon it. Once the priests reached the middle of the Jordan River they stopped. Scripture tells us, "The Lord of all the earth rested in the waters of the Jordan." It is easier to carry something if you are moving. When you have to stop and hold it for any real length of time you get tired much quicker. Yes, there were several of them but they had to hold it for hours. They were the first in the river and then everyone passed by the ark of the covenant while they held it steady in the river. How long do you think it would take 2 million people to cross the river with all their belongings?
God may ask you to do something. First of all, your faith is tested in the fact that you are hoping God is going to come through with what He promised (the priests hoped when the sole of their foot touched the water it stopped flowing). Once God does His part, causing the miracle, the water to stop flowing in flood season, you hope you have what it takes do your part (hold the ark of the covenant for hours as people passed through the riverbed).
God asks me to do things. I rarely question His part of what has to happen, because I know He can do it. However, I look at what He has asked, "Are You sure, I can do this?" God's part was to stop the flow of water during flood season. The priests part was to hold the ark of the covenant hour after hour as people passed by. Could you imagine the muscle cramps?!
I find I don't need faith for what God said He would do. That is a given. I need faith to believe I can do what God has told me to do. When God gives me an assignment or a task to do I have to get my mind around my part. It seems impossible, not for Him but my part.
Matthew 19:26 (NKJV) But Jesus looked at them and said to them, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
Philippians 4:13 (NKJV) I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV) For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
These are a few verses I pull out to strengthen my my mind and will so they line up with what God has asked me to do. Ultimately, He knows I can do it if I will draw my strength from Him. The greater the ask the more I know I have to rely on Him.
Father, I need You. I desire to here You voice and have You lead me. I want to do great exploits with You. I am thankful for the opportunity to join You. I pray for my mind to receive what You are saying. I pray my heart will say yes and embrace the opportunity. I pray for You to speak clearly. I ask for Your strength to do what You have asked me to do. I ask to believe in myself like You do. I know You can and will do what You have said You will do. Give me the strength to do my part of the miracle. I ask for Your strength and courage to go out to those who believe. I pray they would take a stand with You and follow through with the position You have placed them in. I pray they would have the determination to fulfill their part of the miracle. I know You are going with them. I know You will make a way. I know You are using them to part the waters to we walk into our promised land. I pray for strength. I ask for You to give them peace. I ask for each to carry Your presence with them as they fulfill the opportunity You have place them in. You will make a way for Your people to crossover into the promised land in Jesus' name amen.
