Matthew 6:9-13 In this manner, therefore, pray:
Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
As we forgive our debtors.
And do not lead us into temptation,
But deliver us from the evil one.
For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever.
"For yours is the...glory". In looking up several Scriptures to get something tangible to share brought me to Moses asking God, "Please, show me Your glory" in Exodus 33:18. As I read and reread this ask, my mind is expanding, I am pausing and meditating to receive what Father is saying. I want to express not only what He is sharing with me, but I want to communicate it clearly to you. My study Bible is an insightful revelation of what Moses has asked. I am not sure I can be ask clear as what has already been written.
We talk about in worship has many facets. I have said, "Give God glory." When I read the following from my study Bible, I realize glory begins with God. He is glory. Glory resinates from Him and resounds throughout the atmosphere. We cannot give God glory unless we have been given it by God. Moses asks to see God's glory because he wants a deeper relationship with God.
Moses' passionate plea to see God's glory is one of the most intimate encounters ever recorded between God and a human being. His request is not for a display of God' power or even the warmth of His presence, but he hungered for something more: Moses wanted an intimate knowledge of God Himself! That is why God hid Moses in the cleft of the rock and manifested His glory, Moses was not only exposed to the light of the divine afterglow, but enraptured by the fullness of His Person - His character as the One who is compassionate, gracious, and just (34:6,7). Yes, Moses had received God's promises(v. 2), seen God's power, and been guaranteed God's presence (v.14). But Moses wanted God's Person - the only reality that will ever evoke a lasting sense of wonder and fulfill with lasting satisfaction. (Ps. 25:4,5 and Deut. 7:7,8) NKJV Spirit-Filled Life Bible
Glory is something we do not possess unless we have been give it by God. This is why Moses glowed after meeting with God. The people couldn't handle the glory of God upon Moses so they asked him to cover his head.
There are going to be people who cannot handle the glory of God resting upon you. They may ask you or even pressure you to keep your mouth shut, to hide yourself, or take a seat behind the curtain; however, God's glory cannot be hidden. No matter how someone tries to shut you up, His glory cannot be contained. It comes from being intimate with God, like Moses.
Father, I am laying my life before You. I desire to be intimate with You. I want to know You, Your ways, and Your thoughts. Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give me today, daily bread that will show me more of You. Forgive me for my debt to You and Your people. There is no way I can right all of my wrongs. I forgive those who "owe" me. Do not lead me into temtation and keep the evil one from me. I desire to see Your grow deeper in relationship with You and one day see Your glory. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory in Jesus' name amen.
