Does This Really Mean Anything?

Cross Over part 18

Proverbs 25:2 (NKJV) It is the glory of God to conceal a matter, But the glory of kings is to search out a matter.

Has anyone else wondered why the Bible records the children of Israel crossing over so many times? Did you count how many times? I did. I just couldn't comprehend why so many times. Then I wanted to know exactly how many times.

Crossed over (Joshua 3:2)

Crossed over (6)

Crossing over (11)

Cross over (14)

Crossed over (16)

Crossed over (17)

Crossed completely over (17)

Crossed over (Joshua 4:1)

Cross over (5)

Crossed over (7)

Crossed over (10)

Crossed over (11)

Crossed over (11)

Crossed over (12)

Crossed over (13)

Crossed over (22)

Crossed over (23)

Crossed over (23)

18 times! That is just too many to ignore. God has to be trying to tell us something more than they crossed the Jordan on dry ground. That is definitely a miracle! But we must be some kind of hard-head to not believe what the Bible says when God makes it be written down 18 times!

I tried to find my Biblical number book and couldn't. Next best thing is call a friend who has one.

Eighteen biblically means from The Divinity Code by Adam F. Thompson & Adrian Beals:

  • Judgment by the Word of God (Judges 3:12,14; 10:7&8; Luke 13:4&5)

  • Judgement by division (Judges 20:24&25, 42-44)

  • Fruitful association (2 Kings 22:3-10)

  • Complete new beginning (Luke 13:11-16)

  • Complete putting off of the old self (Psalm 51:10)

Eighteen biblically means from A to Z Dream Symbology Dictionary by Dr. Breathill

  • Overcome Bondage (Luke 13:11,16)

  • Overcome oppression, fatigue, crushing affliction (Judges 10:8)

  • Impartations, established blessings and established judgments.

When we apply these interpretations of Scripture to the number eighteen and crossed over being written eighteen times there is a reason we listen. Before I had even counted the number of times crossed over is written in Joshua 3 and 4 I was already blogging and having us pray through most of what is listed from these two chapters. Now we have God emphasizing by having crossed over written eighteen times.

Today just happens to be the 18th blog in the Crossed Over series. So very cool! I thought this series would be 3 maybe 4 posts but I only saw three points at the beginning. When we follow God He opens up so many possibilities. He wants to teach us and give us understanding. He wants us to know the depths of who He is and what He has for each one of us. We started Crossed Over three days before 2020 was over. I believe God isn't only sharing with us about what the children of Israel went through but what we are going through.

The judgement of God was over, the 40 years in the dessert was up. There had been a serious division. Besides Joshua and Caleb everybody else who was 20 years old or younger would remain alive to enter into the promised land but those who rejected God's gift lived according to their own word, in the desert where they would die. This was not God's plan for them! God's plan was for them to receive His gift of freedom, living in the land He promised them. There are times when we condemn ourselves. We speak curses on own lives because we will not embrace what God has put before us. There are a number of reasons why but ultimately we believed the lies rather than the truth of what God was giving us and what He said He would do.

The children of Israel already knew the land was flowing with milk and honey. They embraced God making them fruitful in the land He promised. They were being offered a new beginning and they sanctified themselves to be ready to follow God when the priests walked passed. They would step in line and follow God. They were ready for their new beginning. When they sanctified themselves they had to make sure they were not taking with them the slavery mentality of their parents. This is an important note. There are times when parents or authorities over us have spoken things into our lives that have caused us to embrace a slavery mentality. What might have been true for them doesn't mean it is true for us. God set us free from bondage, slavery and imprisonment. He makes a way for us to get free when we seek Him. We have to ready ourselves to follow Him when the prison doors have been opened and the blockade removed. God is faithful to come. When He does will you be ready?

Eighteen times the Bible records the children of Israel preparing to cross over, crossing over, completely crossed over, and crossed over the Jordan. It was a big deal! If we could only wrap our mind around what God is speaking to us now through this passage.

  • When you need to know the truth you must compare what you are hearing, reading, thinking to the Word of God. We will be judged according to His truth not our altered form of truth.

  • The truth divides people because frankly, we don't want to admit we are wrong. When we won't admit we are wrong, we set ourselves up against God rather than with God.

  • Those who are faithful to follow God will see the fruit of what God has promised.

  • It is necessary for each one of us to rid ourselves, sanctify ourselves, separate ourselves from bondage. Bondage can be as simple as a wrong belief. It can be as controlling as a lie that has hounded us for years. Bondage steals hope. The easiest way to identify a bondage in your life is to see what issue or truth you have lost hope for.

  • Oppression is like a bully. It feeds you a lie over and over again until you can't find the truth. It weighs on you like a heavy wet wool blanket. You may feel like your feet are tied up or you can't lift your hands. You no longer have the desire to serve. It causes fatigue, too tired and the lack to want to do anything. Then oppression comes in with the crushing blow of affliction. When this hits, you are overwhelmed with the belief that this is how life is and will always be. At that point you can't see in that situation. There is no light to follow out of the tunnel. But then God.

  • God says, "I'm giving you a new beginning."

  • God says, "Put off your old self and walk in the new creation I have made you".

  • God says, "What I have gifted you to do will be fruitful."

  • God says, "Whom I have blessed will be blessed."

This is the God we serve! His love for us is amazing. He puts things into Scripture so we can search and find the answer.

Proverbs 25:2 (NKJV) It is the glory of God to conceal a matter, But the glory of kings is to search out a matter.

God may conceal a matter but He intends for it to be found. In the search we draw closer to Him. When we find it, He rejoices with us. You and I are in a position of praying for God's kingdom to be established right here, right now. God will intervene and make a way for each one of us to cross over. He leaves the choice to us. He did not make the children of Israel follow Him across the Jordan. He made a way. They had to put one foot in front of the other and follow Him. The gift was on the other side. They had to sanctify themselves in order to be prepared for the miracle God was going to do before them. There was no way across, it was flood season. But God, no matter the situation, no matter the obstacle, no matter the level of impossibility, He makes a way.

18 times God had it recorded the children of Israel crossed over. Get rid of your bondage, receive the truth, be prepared for a miracle and walk through.

Father, I ask for You to make known Your ways. You are amazing! I no longer want to live in the bondage of 2020. I will sanctify myself and ready myself to move forward with You. I will wait, anticipating Your miraculous hand pushing the things that are obstructing me from reaching the promise You have for me. I will no longer believe the lies. I will embrace the truth. I will seek Your face and declare Your Word. I will declare freedom for our country and all people. I pray for Your kingdom to come and Your will to be done. I pray You will move the obstruction that is keeping us from what You have promised us. I bless the Word of the Lord to be full and delivered to Your people. I will not return to a life of bondage. I will not be enslaved by the enemy. I will be free to live the dreams You have put inside of me. You will make a way for Your people to receive the promise You have given. We will be fruitful in expanding Your kingdom here on earth. No one can declare over us a curse. It will not stand. You have called us blessed and we will be blessed in Jesus' name amen.
