Explain This

Warriors Arise: October 15, 2023

Matthew 5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers,

For they shall be called sons of God.

Matthew 10:34-39 Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword. 35 For I have come to ‘set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law’; 36 and ‘a man's enemies will be those of his own household.’ 37 He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. 38 And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. 39 He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it.

In the presence of Jesus, there is peace to those who will receive it. But for those who will not receive the peace He offers, there is torment. It isn't because Jesus wants them to be tormented, it is because they have given themselves over to their own way of living, without Him, and refuse to align with the Father's love.

  • Judas refused to align with the way God would put Jesus into power as King of kings. After betraying Jesus, Judas went and hung himself.

  • The high priests tore their clothes and hardened their hearts. They would not receive the peace Jesus presented to them; therefore, they lived with constant fear of their authority always being undermined. There is no peace when fear abounds. This led them to hurt and imprison the people they were supposed to teach and serve.

  • Saul was rounding up every follower of the Way. He had them punished. He even oversaw Steven's stoning. He was not at peace until he surrendered to God. Then He could the same peace Jesus operated in. It didn't matter what pain they afflicted him with, He would remain in the Father's perfect peace and testify of God's greatness

Without God's peace, hardship, resentment, division, and death awaits us. With God's peace, we find joy in the midst of the trial, provision in the midst of lack, and hope in the midst of devastation. Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall me sons of God. Paul made peace with God on the road to Damascus. He is one of God's sons. He did the work of the Father. He honored Him and stayed true to the call upon his life.

When Paul chose peace, there was division because the other priests did not. Paul wanted the Jews to receive the message of God's love and His peace, but they would not. They would not take ownership that they had killed an innocent man, let alone the Savior of the world sent by God.

Paul was sent to the Gentiles. Many of them believed and received God's peace; however, many did not. The Bible tells us of a couple of cities that were in an uproar because of the gospel Paul shared. This caused cities to be divided and households to be split. But the Gospel had to be preached. The people had to be given a choice. They had to know there was a Savior and He would receive them.

Paul brought peace to the Gentles. Many of their souls would be saved for his commitment to share the Gospel. He was bringing the Lord's peace to their soul. Even though many rejected the peace. He did not back down. He didn't shy away from sharing Your peace. It caused division in homes and entire cities but he wouldn't stop. He would receive the blessing of a peacemaker.

Father, I pray I would be bold to share the Gospel with people. I pray I would have courage to step out and open my mouth to share Your love. I do not want to assume everyone knows Jesus. I want to see people and give them the opportunity to receive Your peace. Give me courage to share Your peace. I pray they would receive it and Jesus as tier Savior and Lord in Jesus' name amen.
