Warriors Arise: July 23, 2023

Matthew 4:13 (NKJV) Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.

I mentioned yesterday that I would share the reasons I know the Holy Spirit empowers you, and I, to defeat every temptation the enemy tries to entangle us with. I really want you to soak them up so I will share one a day.

First, God knows what we need to defeat the enemy. He knew we needed to see someone we could trust. We can trust the recording of Jesus' life here on earth because there is more evidence of Jesus' life than there is of Julius Caesar. Crazy but true. It is sited in a book ca

lled, "Don't Check Your Brains at the Door". God knew Jesus would have to face and defeat the devil. God desires you and I to defeat the devil, as well. Jesus, clearly defeated the devil when he started a rebellion in heaven. Jesus shared with His disciples that He saw Satan fall like lightning (Luke 10:18). I had always thought that verse was referring to the disciples freeing the people from demonic control, deliverance, healing and cleansing the leapers, and raising the dead as He had sent them out two by two into thirty five cities. But there is something in the reference that makes me think, Jesus was referring to when He rid heaven of the devil and his demons. It was a sound beating and the enemy lost. The enemy isn't even a close second!

Now, here in Matthew, God knew Jesus would have to defeat the devil. Jesus our example of living the abundant life here on earth. He came, lived the miraculous, died for our sins and rose victorious over death and sin. Jesus did this, so you and I would have Him as our example to defeat the enemy and live in abundance.

John 1

0:10 (NKJV) The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

We re to "have life", everlasting life through salvation. We are to have life more abundantly as we defeat the enemy and walk in the fullness of God's blessing here on earth.

We are not to live "just getting by", not when Jesus came to give us life and life more abundantly. How did Jesus defeat the devil? First, He had the Father's blessings. Second, He had the Holy Spirit. Jesus was not alone. He did not defeat the devil alone. He was given the Holy Spirit. You and I are given the Holy Spirit. He is our source of strengthen wisdom, strategy, and empowerment over the enemy.

Luke 11:9-13 (NKJV) “So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. 11 If a son asks for bread from any father among you, will he give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent instead of a fish? 12 Or if he asks for an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? 13 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!”

If you are not sure if you have the Holy Spirit, then, as a child of God, you have every right ask for the Holy Spirit and God will give Him to you.

So, first, you and I need the Holy Spirit.

Father, thank You for showing me exactly what I need to defat the enemy. Thank You for giving the Holy Spirit to Jesus. I am grateful Jesus told us in Scripture that we can have the Holy Spirit also. We need to defeat the enemy who prowls around trying to make havoc in our lives. We need the Holy Spirit. I need the Holy Spirit. I pray for the infilling of the Holy Spirit. I pray for Holy Spirit to speak, counsel, give wisdom and knowledge, give courage and strength, and protection when the enemy comes to set a trap for me. I pray for the Holy Spirit to give me boldness to say what needs to be said and no more. I pray for the Holy Spirit to fill me and continually fill me in Jesus' name amen.
