Warriors Arise: September 20, 2023
Matthew 5:1 And seeing the multitudes, He went up on a mountain, and when He was seated His disciples came to Him.
Jesus wasn't running to get away form the multitudes. This was His time to be known to the people and to share His Father's love. He need to into position. He wanted the people to see Him. He also, wanted the people to hear Him.
The miracles brought the people, but that isn't all that God wanted to do. He wanted Jesus, His Son, to share with the people the relationship He desired. My husband is a gift to me.
God gave Jesus a gift. We are His Bride. The Bible calls us the Bride of Christ. When Jesus came, He became our rescuer. We, as the Bride of Christ, are the damsel in distress. We need inner healing, physical healing, and spiritual healing. Jesus is investing in His Bride. He wants relationship not just what He can do for us.
Today, Scott and I will begin celebrating our 26th year anniversary. (He has youth group tonight so we will have some special plans tomorrow.) Scott didn't marry me so he could continually have a honey-do list. He does for me because we have relationship. The better the relationship the more he wants to do for me. He will ask me, "What do you need me to do for you today to ease your load?" However, that doesn't mean he wants to do everything for me so I can sit around and watch him do all the work. He wants to come along side of me and we accomplish the work together.
He also wants there to be a time when work is done. I can work and work and work and find more things that need to be done. He will come along side of me and help me accomplish a task or finish a task for me so I can work on something else, but there needs to be a time when we can talk, fellowship, and connect spiritually, physically, and emotionally.
Jesus went up the mountain, yes, to be heard, but to begin relationship. He had been meeting the physical needs of people by healing all those who had come to Him. However, where were those people He had healed?
Did they stick around or go home?
Did they know Jesus wanted something from them?
Did they know He didn't want to be used for what He could do for them but He wanted relationship? He wanted them to get to know Him. He wanted to know the bide He would be marrying, the bride He would be dying for, the bride He would return for.
Father, I am grateful for what Jesus has done in my life. I am thankful for each healing, the protection, and wisdom He has given. I am delighted He has placed such value on my life to take my place on the cross. I pray I would continue to pursue getting to know Jesus, His sacrifice, His love, His power, His deliverance, His abundance, and what brings Him joy. I want to know how I can make sure Jesus knows my love, admiration, thankfulness, and appreciation for He has done in my life. I will sit with Him, worship Him, and work along side Him. I will love the Lord with all my heart, with all my soul, with all my strength, and with all my mind in Jesus' name amen.
