Psalm 100:1 (NKJV) Make a joyful shout to the Lord, all you lands!
Do you find it odd that this verse says "all you lands"? It doesn't say "Make a joyful shout to the Lord, all you people!" It says, "Make a joyful shout to the Lord, all you lands!" What does that mean? Why does it say lands and not people? In this verse land has several meanings. Mostly likely it means country, nations and world. But we cannot ignore its meaning to be firm, ground, wilderness, and earth.
You and I have reason to shout to the Lord and I am not referring to being angry. I mean give a shout of praise to the Lord. Really whoop it up! Cheer Him on like you would your favorite player or team. Cheer God on like your team has to come from behind to win. I was at a JV basketball game and our team was trailing by a few points. You would have thought we were playing for the high school state championship game. We would get with in three points in then drop back. This would happen over and over in the last 4 minutes of the game. To the end these parents and fans cheered for their team to pull it together and win the game.
There are times in prayer we are to believe God is at work and we are to cheer Him on. Obviously, He is going to win, but what if we actually cheered for God like we cheer for our ball teams? Your faith and mine, would grow immeasurably. What would happen if right now you stopped and thought of the struggle in your life like a ball game. You are coming from behind, but you have a key player who can lead you into victory. To win the game you have to give Him the ball. The problem, when it comes to our need of a victory, we really think it is up to us to make it happen. We think we are the ones have to shoot the shot. We think we are the ones who have to drive to the basket for a layup, and who have to out hustle everyone else. God's wants us to trust Him to take the winning shot. God wants us to trust Him to lead the team to victory. God wants us to pass Him the ball and cheer for Him when He makes the shot.
What if the game turned based on your willingness to trust God to lead the team?
What if the game turned based on your willingness to pass the ball to God?
What if the game turned, because you cheered for the Lord?
Here is what I don't want to happen: I don't want something that has no life to shout out louder than me, who has life.
Luke 19:37-40 (NKJV) Then, as He was now drawing near the descent of the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works they had seen, 38 saying: “ ‘Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord!’ Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!” 39 And some of the Pharisees called to Him from the crowd, “Teacher, rebuke Your disciples.” 40 But He answered and said to them, “I tell you that if these should keep silent, the stones would immediately cry out.”
The Pharisees wanted Jesus to rebuke His disciples. Interesting who is wanting silence. It isn't the sinners; it is the priests. The ones who should know more of God and His desire to be praised than anyone else, don't want people to worship the Lord. Of course, the Pharisees thought Jesus to be only a man. They would not acknowledge Jesus as the Son of God, the King of glory, God's gift to mankind. However, is this still happening to day? Who is the church is wanting to keep silent? Is it the ones who know more of the Word of God or the ones who know less? Generally, it is not the ones who know less of the Word of God, who want the shouters of praise, honor and glory to God, to be silent. At least, not in my experience. Generally, it is those who know the Word of God more. They are the ones who want the praisers to be be silenced.
We were created worship God, to bring Him glory and honor and praise. As Scripture would tell us, we are to shout to the Lord. All of us, all the land, all the nations, all the earth. If we do not, then the stones will cry out. Do you want a stone to be louder than you, in worship of your God? Do you want a nonliving things to give more praise and honor to God than you? Is your praise so little that the rocks have to cry out and give a joyful shout to the Lord?
When was the last time you gave a joyful shout to the Lord? When did you so overflow with gratitude and joy that you shouted to the Lord? Personally, I have an opportunity every day to shout joyfully to the Lord. I need to be on the winning team. I need the Lord to lead me. I will give Him the ball. I will not make Him do all the work. I will not do all the work. I will lift up the name of my God and worship Him with a joyful shout of praise. He is worthy and I need a win! Hallelujah! Praise be to God who was and is and is to come!
Father, You are amazing in all of Your ways. I am coming to You right now to give You a joyful shout of praise. King of kings, Hallelujah! Lord of lords, Hallelujah! Prince of peace, Hallelujah! Redeemer, Hallelujah! My Righteousness, Amen! My Strong Tower, praise the Lord! Waving my hands up high, I shout Glory to God! I give a shout, "Your are my God! Lead me to victory!" I give a joyful shout, because worthy is my Savior. I will worship You with a joyful shout everyday in Jesus' name amen.
