Warriors Arise: October 27, 2021
Luke 17:11-19 (NKJV) Now it happened as He went to Jerusalem that He passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee. 12 Then as He entered a certain village, there met Him ten men who were lepers, who stood afar off. 13 And they lifted up their voices and said, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!” 14 So when He saw them, He said to them, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And so it was that as they went, they were cleansed. 15 And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, returned, and with a loud voice glorified God, 16 and fell down on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks. And he was a Samaritan. 17 So Jesus answered and said, “Were there not ten cleansed? But where are the nine? 18 Were there not any found who returned to give glory to God except this foreigner?” 19 And He said to him, “Arise, go your way. Your faith has made you well.”
Do you find it odd that He told them to, "Go..."? He didn't tell them to come to Him. He told them to go to someone else. Many other testimonies in Scripture tell us He touched lepers and healed them, but these lepers He told to go. He did not call them to Himself for the healing. I often wonder if there were more than 10 who heard, "Go..." but they looked down, didn't see any change. They were still in horrific pain and so they remained in the hills or turned away, and went back to the lepers' colony.
You and I do not have to have a face to face conversation with God to receive the answer to our prayer. You and I have to obey the Word of the Lord to receive the answer to our prayer.
There are times when God says to "Come all who are heavy laden." Then there are times when God says,
"Go, and sin no more."
"Go and show yourselves to the priests."
"Go and tell John what You have seen."
"Go and make disciples."
"Go, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely You have received, freely give."
When you waited for God to show up, when you cried out to God, did You listen? What did God tell you to do?
Father, I position myself before You. I want to hear You clearly. I know You hear me when I cry out to You. I know You answer. I got too used to sitting here, too used to the way things have always been, too used to the pain I am in that I am not sure if I listened for what You have said. I ask for You to come again. I will listen and I will follow what You say. I will, "Go" as You instruct. I will do as You have said. I will not turn away. I will not return to the way life has always been. I will have faith to do what You have told me to do. I will use every bit of courage I have to follow Your plan even when I do not see anything different. I will embrace Your word and follow it completely in Jesus' name amen.
