God Leads Us to Victory

Warriors Arise: December 21, 2020

1 Samuel 30:23 (NKJV) But David said, “My brethren, you shall not do so with what the Lord has given us, who has preserved us and delivered into our hand the troop that came against us.

David is teaching his men another important lesson. He wants to make sure they understand none of what they accomplished would have happened if God hadn't been with them. David knows each one of these 400 men fought for their lives, their wives, and children. He saw them struggle in hand to hand combat and overcome their advisory then take on another. He saw them fight to protect each other. He saw them deliver the killing blow. Yet, when he addressed the men he said, the Lord has delivered into our hand the troop that came against us.

God delivers into our hand the enemy who comes against us. Our enemy is not a person, our enemy is the devil. The devil is known by many names; ruler of darkness, satan, god of this world, devourer, adversary, roaring lion, thief, father of lies, and many more.

Ephesians 6:12 (NKJV) For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

Malachi 3:11 (NKJV) And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, So that he will not destroy the fruit of your ground, Nor shall the vine fail to bear fruit for you in the field,” Says the Lord of hosts

1 Peter 5:8-9 (NKJV) Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. 9 Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world.

John 10:10 (NKJV) The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

John 8:43-44 (NKJV) Why do you not understand My speech? Because you are not able to listen to My word. 44 You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.

David needed God to guide them because he needed to know God's plan. He intended to keep God before them, so His blessings would flow upon them and victory would be sure. He knew by the Word of the Lord, he was not going into this with his own power and the might of his men. For whatever reason, the enemy had used the Amalekites to steal their possessions, destroy their homes, and enslave their wives and children. What was meant to turn David's men against him and kill him, actually brought about God being glorified. David knew the hearts of his men. They wanted to stone him. He knew they were wicked and worthless. But David believed God. God had sent Sameul the prophet to anoint him as next king of Israel. David was not king yet. David had yet to fulfill the prophecies spoken over him. It was not his time to die. How did David get out of that mess? He turned to God.

David needed his men to see how to go to God in all situations. God was to be the one glorified in this battle because He was the one who strengthened them, gave them courage and the fortitude to persist from twilight until evening. People do not have that kind of strength but with God all things are possible.

When God delivers your enemy into your hand, what do you do? Do you go to battle? Do you fight until the victory God said would happen came to be reality? Do you look at the enemy and turn away?

What would have happened if they had stopped at the Brook Besor? What would have happened if they had acted in anger agains the Amalekite Egyptian slave and killed him? What would have happened if they looked over the camp of the Amalekites and said, "The enemy is too great! There are not enough of us"? What would have happened if they had taken a break in the middle of the battle?

God had taken them to this battle and He had caused them, each one of them to prevail. They were victorious because of God. David would not allow them to miss that key point. He was saying, "We are here today, we returned to these 200 men at the Brook Besor, because God made us victorious."

Father, when the enemy strikes at us, You lead us into victory. I pray we will turn to You and receive Your strength. I ask for our ears to be opened to hear the plan You have for us to overtake the enemy. I pray for clarity in the plans and for my heart to be willing to follow exactly as You direct. I pray for endurance in the pursuit of the enemy. I ask for you to give me a heart of courage, no matter how big the enemy looks or how many he has lined up against me. You are with me. You will make my hands to prosper. You will strengthen my sword as I engage the enemy in battle. I ask for endurance to press through to victory. I pray for soundness of mind. You are the one who brings the victory. Where You send me, I will prosper. What You put in my hands to do, I will accomplish. You are Lord and what You have decided in heaven will happen here on earth in Jesus' name amen.
