Warriors Arise: April 29, 2021
Daniel 6:25-27 (NKJV) Then King Darius wrote: To all peoples, nations, and languages that dwell in all the earth: Peace be multiplied to you. 26 I make a decree that in every dominion of my kingdom men must tremble and fear before the God of Daniel. For He is the living God, And steadfast forever; His kingdom is the one which shall not be destroyed, And His dominion shall endure to the end. 27 He delivers and rescues, And He works signs and wonders In heaven and on earth, Who has delivered Daniel from the power of the lions.
Why would Darius have to say "living"? In verse 26, For He is the living God. Today, you can look around and see people worshipping idols of stone, clay, and cloth. People pray to statues, nature, and animals. People hungry for positions, paper and coins like a wolf hungers for blood. How can something that has no power to save, no resources to provide, no love to redeem, and no wisdom to direct a person have so much pull on our lives?
These are things are things, that is it. They do not hold special powers. They do not solve your problems. They can't give you exactly what you need in the time you need it. They can't even converse with you. But God. The living God, He hears your every word. He pulls you up out of the mire. He positions you for greatness. He protects you. He provides for you. He speaks to you. He gives you wisdom and understanding. He is God and there is no other. He is the living God.
Darius had to say living God because he had been many places and had seen many people worshipping and praying to different gods. Everyone professing their god was everything they hoped. However, there is no other god standing among the living. The only living god is our God. Our God walks with His people, talks with His people. Our God intervenes providing protection and provision. Our God gives us wisdom and understanding. Our God rescues and disciplines. Our God hears us and answers us. Every bit of this is true for everyone who professes God as their God. Just because someone doesn't believe doesn't make it true.
If a tree falls in the forest and there is no one there to see it or hear it, did the tree fall?
When God speaks to people and they ignore His voice does that change the fact that God spoke? With your children or better yet, your teenagers, if you tell them to do something and they do not respond are you ok with that? They didn't hear you so does that give them valid excuse to not have done what you asked? Not in our house. If Scott or I tell the kids to do something we expect them to get up and do it. If they choose to develop a deaf ear to our voice that doesn't mean we are mute. The error is on their part. They have chosen to practice a deaf ear toward us. However, their choice comes with consequences. If they want to argue that they didn't hear us then we encourage them to adjust their hearing so they don't to get discipline next time. However, this time, they will be held accountable for their choice to exercise their freedoms to ignore us.
Human beings are the same way. God is speaking to us. He wants to direct our path. He wants to lead us to a better life. He wants us to escape the traps, trails and temptations of the enemy. He wants us to elude the lure of the enemy. But to do this, we have to exercise our freedom to acknowledge He is God and that He is God in our life. He is alive. He wants what is best for us. His word tells us that He does not withhold any good thing from those who believe. He wants us to be transformed by the renewing of our mind and receive what is good, acceptable and perfect (Romans 12:1-2).
I do not serve a god of stone, clay or cloth. I do not pray to the god of statues, nature, and animals. I do not worship position, paper, and coin. These things are part of society and what God created in the beginning but these things are not a god. I serve the God who created all things. He lifts me up and places my feet on solid ground. My God loves me intensely so all fear is cast away. My God provides for me in every area of need and blesses me with abundance. My God protects me from the terrors of the night and the tragedies of the day. My God leads me away from temptation and into a place of fulfillment. My God sets me up to win. My God sees me in danger and comes to my rescue. My God strengthens me when I am weak. My God gives me joy in the mourning that last throughout my day. My God lavishes His kindness upon me. My God disciplines me when I ignore His voice. My God cheers me on when I align myself with achieving the dreams He has put inside of me. My God is living!
Luke 24:5-6 (NKJV) Then, as they were afraid and bowed their faces to the earth, they said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead? 6 He is not here, but is risen!
When we look for stone, clay or cloth to be our god, we are looking for the living among the dead. When we look for statues, nature and animals to be our god, we are looking for the living among the dead. When we look for a position, paper or coins to be our god, we are looking for the living among the dead. We want these things to be our god and do for us what only the living God can do.
Father, I ask for You to come and minister Your life to me. I want You to be my God. I will not give my praise to a thing. I will not worship stone, clay or cloth nor position, paper or coins. I will not call upon statues, nature or animals to guide me. You are alive. There is nothing else that is god. Only You are God. You are the only living God. There is no other. You lead me into righteousness. You direct my path. You draw me out of the clutches of the enemy. You are my God and there is no other. You teach me and give me understanding. You are for me to achieve the dreams You have placed inside of me. You desire to work situations out for my good. You draw me to Yourself when I am weak and give me strength. You call me to rise above circumstances that want to swallow me. You cause me to be bold in my faith because You have shown Yourself to be faithful. I commit my ways to You, listen to Your voice and follow Your lead for You will cause my hands to prosper in Jesus' name amen.
