Going Back to the Beginning

Warriors Arise: June 7th, 2020

"Then He said to them, "O foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken! Ought not the Christ to have suffered these things and to enter into His glory?" And beginning at Moses and all the Prophets, He expounded to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself." Luke 24:25-27

Not many of us would respond well if a stranger joined our conversation and then called us "foolish". Jesus continues the insult by calling them slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken. Do you see the exclamation mark at the end of the insult? I can hear Jesus saying, "Enough is enough. I do not need to hear another word." Jesus stops them, because He didn't need them speculating when they had been told want to do. They were to go to Galilee. A message from two angles wasn't enough, Jesus living, breathing, speaking to Mary wasn't enough. So, Jesus decided to go back to the beginning. They needed to understand what happened to Jesus in the Scriptures, it was all a part of the redemption plan.

Jesus proceeded to share the rest of the journey, "all the Scriptures...concerning Himself". Jesus wanted His disciples to understand. He wanted them to believe the Word of those giving the testimony, Mary Magdalene, Mary, and Solame. These were women they could trust, "they were...women of our company". Not just any women but women who traveled with Jesus, learned along side them. The testimony of these women could be trusted. Jesus wanted these two men to believe based on the Word, Scripture Jesus was sharing with them about why He had to go to the cross and redeem the people.

Just like God had a plan for Jesus and He saw Him come through victoriously; God has a plan for each one of us.

"For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother's womb. I will praise You for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well." Psalm 139:13-14

God is the one who formed each one of us in our mothers' wombs. God had a dream and knitted you in your mother's womb in order for you to fulfill His dream. He expected, waited for your birth, for you to embrace your personality, develop your gifts and talents, to call upon Jesus as your Lord and Savior, and to walk with Him in the path He laid before you.

Walking with God does not mean life is perfect. It does mean you will always come out better than if you walked life without Him. Many settle for less than what God dreamed they would become because they will not embrace Jesus as their Lord. It is difficult to do. Many of us want salvation; we want to live with Christ in heaven for eternity. To call and honor Jesus as Lord while we are still here on earth can be difficult.

We rejoice with the wonderful things that take place in our lives. We also walk with confidence through the difficult situations in our lives. This confidence comes from knowing God will work all things out for our good, It is going to take faith for people to believe God will work things our for our good.

"Behold the proud, his soul is not upright in him; But the just shall live by his faith." Habakkuk 2:4

People who make decisions without consulting God, live their without faith. When people believe they have to take matters into their own hands, they fail to believe God is just and will make things right.

"And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God." Romans 12:2

Jesus is walking with these two disciples and He is renewing their minds, getting them to focus on Scripture and not their own thoughts. Sometimes I can be thinking thoughts and they keep rolling around and around. I can't seem to come up with the answer. Finally, I snap out of it or Jesus says, "Peace, be still!" Then I can hear what He wants to share with me. Many times He uses Scripture, reminding me what He has already said in His Word. The answer is there I just needed to let Him be Lord and He would show me what I needed.

As Romans 12:2 says, when we renew our mind on the Word of God we "prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God." God is for us be all that He dreamed we would be.

"Sow for yourself righteousness; reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground, for it is time to seek the LORD, till He comes and rains righteousness on you." Hosea 10:12

Our mind is renewed, breaking up the fallow ground. It is time to seek the LORD. When we continue seeking the LORD, He will come and rain righteousness on us.

Father, I ask for You to come and minister to my mind. I surrender my every thought to You. You can interrupt my thinking at any time. I do not understand all that is going on today in our world. But what I do know is that You have not abandoned us to the devil or disease, chaos, and the pandemic. I bind the enemy. He cannot release disease on Your people. I command the coronavirus to die in Jesus' name. I bind the devil from the destruction he has caused by taking advantage of the peaceful protestors. I release the Holy Spirit to rain down peace to every thought, emotion, and action in Jesus' name. I bind the devil from moving forward with this pandemic. I release God to speak His love into every heart. The heart will be fertile ground for faith to grow in Jesus' name. I bless each seed of faith to grow and choke out every bit of fear created by this pandemic. I ask for Your love to reach down and touch the hearts and minds of all the people protesting, all the people who continue to fight the coronavirus, all the people who have lost lives from the disease and riots. I ask for Your love to be extended to all those who are taking advantage of those leading a peaceful protest by damaging business, looting, and taking lives. When this is over, and the heightened emotions are dissipated, I ask for each one who has been a part of the riots and looting to fully see You extending them Your new mercies that You give every morning. There will be an end, God lead us out of this pandemic. We, Your people, are sending prayers for You to stop the coronavirus, stop the riots, stop the looting, and stop the deaths. We specifically seek You because there is no one else who can defeat the devil; no one but You. We seek Your face and ask for You to look upon all that has happened. We ask for You to bring an end to this madness in Jesu's name amen!
