Gotcha!

Warriors Arise: November 30, 2020

1 Samuel 30:15-17 (NKJV) And David said to him, “Can you take me down to this troop?” So he said, “Swear to me by God that you will neither kill me nor deliver me into the hands of my master, and I will take you down to this troop.” 16 And when he had brought him down, there they were, spread out over all the land, eating and drinking and dancing, because of all the great spoil which they had taken from the land of the Philistines and from the land of Judah. 17 Then David attacked...

They had found the right man, who knew what the Amalekites had done and their whereabouts. David had kept his cool and must have seemed sincere because the Amalekite Egyptian slave was willing to take them to the Amalekites. This Egyptian must have been educated. He knew Egyptian, I'm guessing the Amalekite language and then spoke to David in Hebrew. He would have been a valuable slave. There is nothing in Scripture telling us they had difficulty understanding one another. This Egyptian slave of the Amalekites knew something about the Hebrews.

I wonder if he knew about when God sent Moses to set His people free. I wonder if he knew how God preserved His people for 40 years in the desert. Maybe He knew how the Hebrews settled in their land and took over one city at a time. What we do know, is that the Scpriture capitalizes God when the Egyptian slaves asks David to swear. The Egyptian was referring to David's God not the gods of Egypt or the Amalekites. He knew David served the Living God. Verse 15, So he said, “Swear to me by God that you will neither kill me nor deliver me into the hands of my master, and I will take you down to this troop.” The Egyptian does not want to be turned over to the Amalekites. He knows the if David tried to use him as a bargaining chip, he will be killed by his former master. So he makes David swear to him by God. David must have agreed because verse 16 "And when he had brought him down" the he is referring to the Egyptian slave.

"There they were," can't you just hear David under his breath saying, "Gotcha!" He looked at the camp, "spread out over all the land, eating and drinking and dancing, because of all the great spoil which they had taken from the land of the Philistines and from the land of Judah." What was the second thing God had told them, "You shall surely overtake them." Now is that time. God didn't tell them to call a formal battle line. God said David and his men would surely overtake them. No hesitation. Just follow the plan of the Lord. When we seek Him, hear Him and follow His plan, He will guide you and lead you into triumph.

David and his men would not stand by another minutes and watch these Amalekites dance with their wives and daughter, enslave their sons. This celebrate was premature because they just arrived at the fight. David and his men were going take the battle to the enemy right now, with no delay.

They sought the Lord. He gave them instructions. They had followed the instructions and now it was time to finish the command, "overtake them and recover all." It was time to take back what the enemy had stolen from them.

Verse 17 Then David attacked...

Father, You direct our path. Give us courage to engage the enemy battle and lead us to victory. I rebuke the coronavirus in Jesus' name and I speak life to all who are infected with the virus. I ask for Your lovingkindness to pour into our heart, mind and body. I ask for each person who is fighting any type of sickness or disease to receive Your healing in Jesus' name. I pray for the vaccine to come without any negative effects. I pray for You to kill all infectious diseases that have been developed and are being passed around the world. I release Your power to cause the enemy, who seeks to kill us through infectious disease, to be sent to the pit of hell and never rise again. I bless our bodies to be made strong in our immune systems. I ask for those who are wickedly seeking to harm Your people through infectious diseases to be found out and removed from society. I pray for the fraud in our election to be found out. I ask for You to expose the lies, deceit, and counterfeit ballots. I ask for those who were denied their right to vote to be heard. I pray they would have the courage to step forward and make their vote count. I pray people would not give up but pursue and overtake the enemy who is lying to them. I ask for people to make known the injustice that has taken place when they were denied their right to vote. I ask for those deeds done in darkness, behind closed shades to be unveiled for all to see. I pray we would align ourselves with justice in the 2020 elections in Jesus' name, amen.
