Warriors Arise: March 16, 2021
Daniel 6:10 (NKJV) Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went home. And in his upper room, with his windows open toward Jerusalem, he knelt down on his knees three times that day, and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as was his custom since early days.
If you want what someone else has achieved, then you are going to have do what they did to get what they achieved. What the governors and satraps failed to understand is how Daniel got the wisdom and favor that was upon his life. They were not just getting rid of Daniel, they were challenging the One who gave Daniel his wisdom and favor.
What I find odd is that they thought Daniel would stop praying to God because of their decree. Yes, the decree stated he would be thrown into the lion's den if he didn't pray to Darius for the next 30 days. But Daniel had been in so many life-threatening situations this one didn't even phase him. He knew it was evil, he knew it was a set up; therefore, he didn't stop what he was doing. Fear had no hold on him.
What is the difference between God putting you in a life-threatening situation verses man putting you in a life-threatening situation? Daniel was in Jerusalem when King Nebuchadnezzar conquered it. Daniel could have been killed with the rest of his family, but he wasn't. He was taken as a captive to Babylon and could have died on the way, but he didn't. Daniel gave king Nebuchadnezzar an unpleasant word from God. Daniel could have been killed then, but he wasn't. Daniel was summoned before King Belshazzar to read the hand-written note on the wall from God. He could have been killed for the way he spoke to the king, but he wasn't. Daniel had been saved too many times to give up on God's protection this time.
Some people think their threats should change our devotion to God. Why would we remove God as our protector to put a human in charge of protecting us? It seems like a no-brainer; however, we know of someone else in the Bible who did just that. He was could not be overcome by any man or group of men when he remained under God's protection.
For the complete history you can check out Judges 13-16. His name was Samson. He became haughty and didn't seek to serve God with the gift he had been given. He was not afraid of men because he had never been defeated. However, he had not valued the gift God had given him. He told his secret of power to Deliliah. She and her family were threatened if she did not find out Samson's secret. Instead of seeking Samson to protect her and her family she sought to persist until he told her the secret to his strength.
Daniel was always going to do what he always did. He would seek God, pray and give praises to Him three times a day. He would not deviate from his devotion to God just because of a decree that could lead to his death. If God wanted Daniel to die for standing for Him then so be it. If God wanted to give him a way to reveal to the new king about God's amazing powerful love for His people then so be it. No matter the outcome, Daniel would be faithful to God.
What about you?
Your past trials and tribulations, have they caused you to step away from God?
Your past pains and sorrows, have they caused you to reject God?
Your past struggles and conflicts, have they caused you to give up on God?
Your past rejection and dismissals, have they caused you to devalue God?
Each one of these should have caused you to seek God, being faithful and devoted to His plan for your life. Each one of these should have put a resolve in your heart the seek God for the fullness of all He has for your life. Each one of these should have caused you to move forward with tenacity and fortitude. If that is how you responded, then you have strengthened your Spirit man to face the plans of evil with the power of God. A Christian may be threatened, but should never feel threatened. In Christ, we can trust all things will work out for the glory of God.
Father, You are faithful to each one of Your children who seeks You, follows You, and establishes their life in the plans You have for them. I ask for You to come and speak to me again the plans You have for me. I want to make sure my life is exactly where You planned. I want You to lead me into righteousness. I want to make decisions in Your presence with Your understanding. I ask to receive Your wisdom and strength to stand in the line of fire. I ask for You to set my feet on solid ground even when the ground around me is shaking. I ask for You to establish Your will in my life. I pray for strength to keep my eyes on what You would have for me to do. I ask for You to quiet my mind from the plans of destruction and my heart to be touched with Your love. I know You are for me and I pray for the tenacity to put You in my life as an immovable. I will not deviate from Your plans, from my time with You, to hear Your voice, and give You praise in Jesus's name amen.
