Psalms 138:3 (NKJV)
In the day when I cried out, You answered me,
And made me bold with strength in my soul.
How many of us are astounded when we hear God answer? We really shouldn't be. Relationship means there is going to be conversation. God is going to speak to us. It may not be audibly, He speaks in such a way that you know it is God. You know He gave you the answer, opened the door that had been closed, and gave you wisdom to empower your thinking. God desires to be in relationship with you and I. This is why He is going to hear and listen to us, then respond with an answer. If we fully embrace the relationship He offers, we will hear and listen to God and respond with an answer. God answers our prayers.
Psalms 138:3 (NKJV)
In the day when I cried out, You answered me,
And made me bold with strength in my soul.
God answered with BOLDNESS.
Psalms 34:4 (NKJV)
I sought the Lord, and He heard me,
And delivered me from all my fears.
God answered with DELIVERANCE from fear.
Psalms 34:17 (NKJV)
The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears,
And delivers them out of all their troubles.
God DELIVERS from all your troubles.
Psalms 118:5 (NKJV)
I called on the Lord in distress;
The Lord answered me and set me in a broad place.
God set me in a BROAD place.
Psalms 120:1-2 (NKJV)
In my distress I cried to the Lord,
And He heard me.
2 Deliver my soul, O Lord, from lying lips
And from a deceitful tongue.
God DELIVERED from lying lips.
God also responded to what we are saying. Every time you and I talk to God, it isn't to be just to ask Him to do something. Is that the relationship you would want from your child? You would want for them to come to you only when they need something from you?
Wouldn't you like your child just to come and spend time with you?
Wouldn't you like your child to come and do special activities with you?
Wouldn't you like your child to make memories with you?
Wouldn't you like your child to just sit and talk, sharing about their day?
Wouldn't you like your child to share their dreams?
Wouldn't you like your child to celebrate with you over what you have accomplished?
Wouldn't you like your child to listen when you speak?
Wouldn't you like your child to hear when you share?
Wouldn't you like your child to give you their attention so they can hear your answer, the wisdom you have to offer?
God is no different.
God wants you and me to come and spend time with Him.
God wants you and me to do special activities with Him.
God wants to make memories with us.
God wants us to sit and talk, to share about our day.
God wants to hear our dreams.
God wants to celebrate with us and for us to celebrate with Him.
God wants us to listen when He speaks.
God wants us to hear what He is saying.
God wants to impart wisdom in you and me.
I am grateful God wants to be in a functional, life-giving relationship with us where we hear His answer and listen to each detail He gives. God answers you and I. Have you ever experienced when God answers before you have even asked?
Isaiah 65:24 (NKJV)
“It shall come to pass
That before they call, I will answer;
And while they are still speaking, I will hear.
God loves you and I so much that He can't always wait for us to ask for His help. He goes ahead, knowing we probably won't even recognize that He interevened, but He does it anyway. God wants things to work out in our lives. He is not out to punish us. He is looking for ways He can be involved in our lives, make them a little bit better and even easier, without totally ruling over our lives. He desires our lives to be reflective of His love. Because of His overwhelming love for you and me, He answers a need in our life before we even ask. Many times He answers before we even think to ask. We might find ourselves busy trying to figure it out and He provides the very answer we need. God makes our lives easier. Answers to question you don't even know to ask, He is answering.
Jeremiah 33:3 (NKJV) ‘Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’
Father God, You are so amazing. I stand in awe of You. Your love overwhelms me. I think of all the times You gave me the answer, You came to meet with me, and You delivered me. I am blessed abundantly with Your love. I know You are for me. I know You speak to me. I know You have heard me and listened to my heart. I know You have spoken and I was given wisdom, information I couldn't have known. I don't even know the number of times You answered and I hadn't even asked for Your help. You are amazing! I value what You have to say. I listen for Your voice and look for You at work in my life. Thank You for answering my prayers. Thank You for answering questions I never asked. Thank You for not waiting for me to ask. I am so grateful for the relationship You offer. I will ask, but in my asking, I will take time to listen. I will receive Your words and act upon them in Jesus' name amen.
