Luke 19:1-5 (NKJV) Then Jesus entered and passed through Jericho. 2 Now behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus who was a chief tax collector, and he was rich. 3 And he sought to see who Jesus was, but could not because of the crowd, for he was of short stature. 4 So he ran ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see Him, for He was going to pass that way. 5 And when Jesus came to the place, He looked up and saw him, and said to him, “Zacchaeus,...

Can I just say, when the Lord calls your name, you need to listen? It is not a matter of if He will call your name; it is when. Why do I believe this? Good question. I believe this because God sent His Son to live, die and resurrect from the dead so that NONE would perish. That is Scriptural. God desires to reach each and everyone of us. I may start saying things to a particular child of mine and not use their name, but if they don't recognize that I am talking with them, I will use their name. Most of us do not recognize God speaking to us; therefore, we continue through life. But I believe, God's love will not prevent Him from calling out to us.

If my children are playing and the ball gets hit into the road or across the road. I will look to see if there are any cars coming. If I see a car coming, I will then look to see if my child is looking and prepared to stop. If they are not, then I will call out to them and you can believe I will use their name to get their attention.

Luke 11:13 (NKJV) If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!”

God gives the BEST gifts. He tries to protect us. He calls us to Himself when we need comforted or strengthened. But we don't have to go. That is the beauty of love. Love is a choice. God calls out to you and me because His love compels Him to act on our behalf. His love motivates Him to invest in and build relationship with You. Your love back to God is dependent upon your desire to develop the relationship He is offering.

Whether you remember God calling your name or not, is irrelevant. The fact that You are loved by God is truth, whether you believe it or not. My kids can say, "You don't love me." But that isn't the truth. Am I perfect? Absolutely NOT. Only God is perfect in all of His ways. It is why I have introduced and continue to teach my children to have a solid relationship with God. Where I fail them, He will not. He will supersede my love beyond comprehension. I can only love as I have received love from Him. The best love I can give to my children is dependent upon what I believe and receive from God.

1 John 4:19 (NKJV) We love Him because He first loved us.

When I receive God's love for me, I can give the love to my children. I have learned, the area in my life that I do not receive God's love, I do not have His love to give to others. It has also freed me. Because I used to lament over the love I didn't receive from others. The enemy likes to remind me of the times I was rejected and minimized in who God created me to be; but God set the record straight. I heard Him call my name and I received His love. I have a choice every time the enemy reminds me of the pain to see where God led me out. I am no longer there. I am not a prisoner of my past, because Jesus came and set me free. I have walked away from that prison and I will not walk back. Sure, the enemy might try to get me to look back but I will not walk back to that prison of pain, rejection, and abuse in Jesus' name. I am who God says I am. I will walk in the fullness of His love. I will not be afraid for my God is with me. I will celebrate in the resurrection power of Jesus Christ. What was dead in me is now alive and what used to consume me with fear and pain is no longer, for my God reigns in heaven and in my life in Jesus' name.

Father, I thank You for calling my name. It isn't that life was perfect, but in this life You have shown Yourself to be perfect. You have always been there when I called to You. You have always offered Your hand when I have fallen. You have always identified the lie and given me the choice to replace it with the truth. You are wonderful in all of Your ways. I will bask in Your goodness and remember what You have done and continue to do in my life. I will honor You with my life in Jesus' name amen!
