He CHOSE You

Warriors Arise: December 9, 2022

Psalms 118:14-15 (NKJV)

The Lord is my strength and song,

And He has become my salvation.

15 The voice of rejoicing and salvation

Is in the tents of the righteous;

The right hand of the Lord does valiantly.

There are a couple of times when leading worship, I have felt the prompting to ask for testimonies, "What are you thankful for? What has the Lord done for you?" Without a doubt, or hesitation someone will shout out, "My salvation!" Why do we celebrate Christmas, because it is the beginning of the Salvation God offers to each and every one of us.

I often return to, "Why did He do it? Why did He come?" Jesus is God, the Son. He was in heaven being worshipped. He had won over Lucifer and cast him out of heaven. He operated in all power and love. Why would he come to earth? Why be chose to be our Savior? Why hang up the honor, glory and power of deity for me?

Jesus heard what the prophets were saying. He knew He would be beaten beyond recognition. He knew blood had to be spilled for our healing. He knew sickness had to be overcome. He knew He could be killed in Mary's womb before He was even born. He had seen other unwed mothers stoned by Jewish law. How would she be protected; thereby protecting Him? How many dreams and intentions are killed before they are even conceived? Could this be the fate of Jesus? He had to trust His Father. He had to trust that He would not be killed before He fulfilled His purpose. Do you realize how many times Jesus' life was in danger? He could have been killed in the womb by His mother being stoned. He could have been killed in the womb if she fell wrong off the donkey or tripped on the rough terrain, as they traveled a 100 miles, with her 9 months pregnant, from Nazareth to Bethlehem. He could have been killed by Herod's guards when he sent them to Bethlehem to kill all the baby boys 2 and under. What if Joseph hadn't got up in the middle of the night and gotten them out of Bethlehem? The list really goes on. As you read the number of times He slipped through the crowd and out of the grasp of the Pharisees, Sadducees, and temple guards. The people who were thronging Him could have trampled Him. He was constantly touching the lepers and yet He never became a leper. They all were healed. He went to the demon-possessed. They could have killed him, but instead they were freed from the their demons and returned to their right mind. He traveled into Samaria. They were hostile toward Jews. God protected His Son. He could not die until He had completed His mission. He was sent to be the Savior of all mankind so we could be in relationship with God and one day live in heaven with Him and all who profess Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord.

Jesus trusted His Father. Jesus knew what the prophets were saying. Sometimes, I think of Jesus hearing the prophets say that He would be beaten beyond recognition and say, "Dad, really? Does it have to go that far? Why did You let him say that? I have to go through everything they say, to fulfill Your Word. Are they speaking on their own or is this really from You?"

Maybe in heaven, being a deity, He didn't think of the pain it would be as a human. Once he became human, He knew what it would be like. He could see and then imagine what the pain would feel like. Just like Jesus tells us to count the cost, I am sure He counted the cost before coming to earth as a baby and growing up in volatile times. I am sure He knew what would be happening to Him. And still HE CHOSE to go through the pain for you and me.

Yes, there should be rejoicing and salvation in the tents/ homes of the righteous. Are you overcome with the things of this world rather than rejoicing in the Lord, what He has done, and what He will? Jesus chose you!

Father, is there rejoicing in my home? You shouldn't even have to ask. There should be such rejoicing in our home, because You chose us. You didn't leave us here to suffer. You did not condemn us to hell. You chose us. You chose to save us. You chose to give us a new opportunity. You chose to give us life and life more abundantly. You did the hard. You did the unthinkable. You sacrificed Your life for mine. You chose me. I will rejoice and celebrate You! I will not hide my delight in my salvation and my Savior. You chose me and I will be outrageously rejoicing of all You have done, in Jesus' name amen.
