Matthew 4:21 Going on from there, He saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets. He called them,
Jesus is focused. He is on a mission. Maybe He knows how long He has and maybe He doesn't. He is man. He hung up His deity to come to Earth and be our Savior through sacrificing His life for our's. He has an urgency about Him. He has waited nearly thirty years to begin doing His Father's work.
He actually tried to start when He was twelve, but His parents, Joseph and Mary found Him in the temple teaching the priests and brought Him home. Joseph and Mary did not leave Jesus at the Synagogue like Hannah left Samuel.
Since Scripture tells us Jesus did only what He saw His Father doing, I believe Jesus saw God moving on and through John the Baptist. Jesus was compelled to be baptized. He saw His Father's delight in John and Jesus wanted to be a part of it. God affirmed Him when He parted the sky and spoke over Him, "This is My Son, in Whom I am well pleased." After being led into the wilderness by the Holy Spirit and defeating Satan's temptations, He is ready to begin ruffle some more feathers by teaching the common men to debunk demons, raise the death, and cleanse the leapers. He has defeated Satan's temptations, now He has to teach other humans to do the same.
This is His time. The door has opened and He is walking through. He will represent the Father so others will know Him, receive His love, and work in His authority. Who would think God would choose the lowly to be His vessels of power and love? But He did (1 Corinthians 1:27).
Jesus still has a mission. He continues to search the earth to find those who are loyal to Him (2 Chronicles 16:9). God isn't concerned about your status, He is looking for a heart that is loyal to Him. He can use anyone who is loyal to Him. He needs us to embrace His heart for others. He needs us to be willing to share our faith, His love, courage and wisdom, to reach people. Jesus' mission continues through us. Are you willing? Are you finding a way to share His love? Do people see Christ in you, through what you do and what you say?
Father, I ask for my eyes to be open to seeing who I need to share my testimony with. I ask for You to get my attention so I will slow down and speak to them. I pray for courage. Why is it so hard to share my faith to a stranger? What are they really going to do to me? Nothing, absolutely nothing of any consequence. I pray for boldness from within, tender words as I speak and wisdom to know what part of my testimony of Your faithfulness I should share in Jesus' name amen.
