He Spoke

Warriors Arise: October 26, 2021

Luke 17:11-19 (NKJV) Now it happened as He went to Jerusalem that He passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee. 12 Then as He entered a certain village, there met Him ten men who were lepers, who stood afar off. 13 And they lifted up their voices and said, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!” 14 So when He saw them, He said to them, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And so it was that as they went, they were cleansed. 15 And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, returned, and with a loud voice glorified God, 16 and fell down on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks. And he was a Samaritan. 17 So Jesus answered and said, “Were there not ten cleansed? But where are the nine? 18 Were there not any found who returned to give glory to God except this foreigner?” 19 And He said to him, “Arise, go your way. Your faith has made you well.”

I am so encouraged when I read this phrase, So when He saw them, He said to them. It is such a mind shift for me. My first 25 years of relationship with God, I had worked through and knew that He saw me and heard me, but I didn't realize that He spoke to me. I hadn't recognized His voice. I didn't know He had been trying to speak to me. He wanted me to hear Him. He wanted me to know His amazing love, His wisdom (precept upon precept, Is. 28:10), His understanding (line upon line, what applied to where I was in life), and operate in His power. He wanted me to know I was and am today His child. He truly wanted and still wants me as His own.

When I read in the Bible of God's people calling, crying out to Him and His response follows I know how extraordinary His love is for His people. As a Christian, I am one of these people. I am His child. As my Father, He hears me, listens to me, and speaks to me. He tells me that I am His. He counsels me with truth and love. He points in the direction I should go to be positioned in the middle of the plans He has for me.

God sees you and I. God will speak to us. He has heard out cry and will respond. Many times we know He hears us, but we don't realize we have spoken a word. Maybe we get hung up in always praying for someone else. Maybe we have bought into the lie that until things get completely unbearable we are to go as far as we can without calling out to God. Maybe we don't feel we are worth God's time. These lepers had a horrible life. I find it odd that there were only 10. Where were the others? Did they not think Jesus would pass by? Did they believe the lie, "This is my lot in life. I must face the facts and succumb to the pain and suffering."? Did they think Jesus would have nothing to do with them since they were lepers?Jesus wasn't afraid of leprosy. He had touched many lepers. Their sickness did not transfer to Him; His healing transferred to them.

Jesus responded in an instant. He heard them and healed them! He didn't wait for them to come down from their hiding place. He spoke out their instructions for their healing. I encourage your to ask God to remove the burden of what You carry. I ask You to listen and do what He says. We do not know how long these lepers waited. It could have been days or even a year or two. They could have been waiting from the first time they heard Jesus healed someone, specifically a leper. We don't know. But when they were within hearing, they shouted out to Jesus and He responded.

Father, I position my heart and mind to seek You. I am worth Your time. You value me more than I value myself. You have placed inside of me gifts and talents to be used to expand Your kingdom. You are amazing in all of Your ways. Even though I have never had leprosy, there are so many times I have positioned myself to seek You, find You and made my request known to You. The waiting process can seem so long, but You always come. During the persistence I have learned so much about the lies I used to believe. I have had to pull each lie out and replace it with the truth of Your Word, what You say about me, and the plans You have for me. I will see You and You will respond with Your lovingkindness, in Jesus name amen.
