Warriors Arise: January 10, 2021
Joshua 4:15-18 (NKJV) Then the Lord spoke to Joshua, saying, 16 “Command the priests who bear the ark of the Testimony to come up from the Jordan.” 17 Joshua therefore commanded the priests, saying, “Come up from the Jordan.” 18 And it came to pass, when the priests who bore the ark of the covenant of the Lord had come from the midst of the Jordan, and the soles of the priests’ feet touched the dry land, that the waters of the Jordan returned to their place and overflowed all its banks as before.
I really like how Joshua hears God, speaks what God says, and instructed others to do what He said to do. Some of this is because they weren't going to do anything without God. With God all things are possible. Without God, we are on our own, in our own strength and in our own wisdom. We would like to think we are strong enough for whatever lies ahead. We would like to think that we are wise enough to navigate through what is ahead. On our own we may stay afloat but we will be treading water instead of walking on water like Jesus or walking where water was and now is dry, because God did the miraculous and made a way.
I started this Crossover series with the intent that it would be 3 or 4 days. But God has seen otherwise. I did not know what was ahead. He did. I did not know how much Christians would need a miracle. While we wait for God's plan, the waters to part and dry ground to walk across, we need to sanctify ourselves from the lure of the enemy. The devil is using people to try and entangle us in his web of lies. God will part the waters and we will go through. Nothing can stop the move of God. I believe with all my heart God is planning something big that isn't even on our radar yet. I don't know what it is but God will make a way for His people to crossover into what He has promised. God went before His people, seated on the mercy seat atop the ark of the covenant. He and the priest who carried the ark remained in the midst of the Jordan until all God had said to do was done. The people are across the Jordan, in their promise land, ready to build the memorial on the land and having finished the boulder memorial in the Jordan where the priest stood with the ark of the covenant it is time for God to be brought up out of the Jordan.
Isaiah 52:12b (NKJV) ...For the Lord will go before you, And the God of Israel will be your rear guard.
It is time for the priests who are carrying the ark of the covenant to come up from the Jordan. Three times it is recorded, I underlined them in the verses at the beginning of the blog. When things are repeated in makes me stop and think. Maybe it is the repeat that gets my attention. It is stated three times:
Come up from the Jordan
Come up front he Jordan
Come from the midst of the Jordan.
The priests were in the midst of the Jordan holding the ark. Everyone else crossed over the Jordan. The priests, who carried the ark, were the only ones who remained in the Jordan until everyone had crossed and everything the Lord had spoken was completed. It was as if the boulder memorial was being built right in front of God. It marked the very place God reigned over the element of water. His position means everything. When people crossed the Jordan in later times they would see the boulders sticking up out of the water. They would recognize this is not some creek the children of Israel crossed, this was and is today a deep river. Then to hear of the miracle that the waters parted during flood season. Amazing!
Can you believe it? Really, in your mind have you believed that miracle to be true. We can read the Bible and still not embrace the Bible truth. Do you believe the miracles God performed for His people are true? No one can answer that for you. This is between you and God. Did God part the waters during flood season and the people cross on dry ground? Did the people build the memorial in the midst of the Jordan or is that boulders just appeared in a stack by some cosmos event?
If you believe God did this for the children of Israel, then you can believe that He will do whatever is necessary to get you into your promised land. God will lead the way, you will have to crossover. God will come behind and close the door. He isn't just "letting you in" to what He has promised you. He is going with you.
Crossover and come up out of the Jordan. Ready yourself. Listen for God. You have heard Him speak to you before. Watch Him part the waters then crossover. Make a memorial to Him so you will remember what the Lord God has done. When your children ask how you made it through this time you will be able to testify what God did. The presence of God will come up and continue with you.
Father, I ask for You to come and minister to each one of Your people. I ask for Your instructions to be clear. I ask for each one to be ready to move forward with you. I ask for You to navigate each one of us through the river and to the other side. I ask for You to part the waters and lead us through. I pray we will be ready. We will see You going before us. We will crossover into the promises You have for us. Thank You for going before us. Thank You for remaining in the miracle as we all get across. I know You will come up and lead us into the fullness of the plans You have for each one. I will be ready to cross. I will make a way, a memorial to remember what You have done at this time. I will wait for You to come up out of the miracle and lead us into the fulfillment of what You have promised in Jesus' name amen!
