How Passionate Are You about Your Purpose?

Warriors Arise: December 1, 2020

1 Samuel 30:17 (NKJV) Then David attacked them from twilight until the evening of the next day. Not a man of them escaped, except four hundred young men who rode on camels and fled.

David and his men attacked the Amalekites without any warning. There were no battle lines set up. They had already picked a fight with David and his men. Remember just hours before they had left 200 men behind at the Brook Besor. What kind of shape were David and his 400 men in. We have no idea if they rested, ate, or drank water to replenish their bodies in order to be ready for the battle they were going to finish.

They saw their enemy, the one who had stolen their wives and children, taken all of their possessions and burned their city to the ground. Our enemy, satan, is just as ruthless; however, he is a little more conniving. Satan is good at blaming others because they were the ones who "actually" did his dirty work. Just like we are to be the hands and feet of God, expanding His kingdom of love and dominion here on earth, satan uses people to do his deeds of evil.

David and his men saw their enemy in plain sight, right in front of them. Sleep or no sleep, David and his men were going to finish this battle. "Ready or not" was never more clear than at this time, for this battle. There last few days have been one disappointment after another. They were sent home from a battle because the Philistines were afraid David and his men would turn on them in the battle. Three days later they crest the hill and see smoke rising above Ziklag. Once arriving at Ziklag they began investigating, looking for their families and seeing what they could recover but all had been taken and what was left behind had been burn to the ground. After weeping to the point of exhaustion David's men turned in anger and want to stone David to death. David called inquired of the Lord. They received specific instructions and pursued the Amalekites. They heard God tell them to overtake and recover all. They had to leave 200 men behind at the Brook Besor. Then found the Egyptian who told them where to find the Amalekites. Now, they see their prey and are not going to wait to be found out. This is not a gentleman's battle. There is nothing gentlemanly about it. The Amalekites stole their wives and children, took their possessions and burned their city.

Sometimes we respond to the enemy as if he is a gentleman. We think we have to fight nicely. But in this Biblical illustration, we do not have to fight nicely with the enemy. When you see the enemy at work in your life you have every reason to kick him out. If what is happening to you involves someone stealing something from you then you have spotted the enemy at work. When you see the enemy threatening to kill a relationship, opportunities, or the threat of COVID-19, you have spotted the enemy. When you identify destruction in your life or about to take place, you have the enemy in plain sight.

John 10:10 (NKJV) The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

David had every right to attack without warning. The enemy does not play fair and when you try to play fair with the enemy you lose your advantage. Before the enemy could find out David and his men were there, they needed to strike. The enemy counts on us being intimidated by him, cautious because he has taken what was ours, and to treat him kinda like we would a friend. The enemy isn't your friend. Do not think for one minute the enemy is going to treat you fairly or with honor. If he can't convince you to give up what is yours, he will just try and take it.

When you spot the enemy, it is time to engage in battle.

Father, I ask for You to give me eyes to see the enemy at work around me. I want to be alerted to his ways. I pray I would have courage to take a stand and declare the Word of the Lord. I ask for boldness to tell the enemy to get his hands off of my family. When he lies and starts lies I declare his mouth is to be mute and he cannot speak those lies to my family, friends or me. When the enemy is out to destroy relationships and opportunities, I declare the plans You have for me. I will not be threatened by the enemy but be a threat to him, not in my own power but in the power of my Lord Jesus Christ. I am a child of God and I will operate in the dominion You have given me. I bless my eyes to see the enemy and engage in the battle. I bless my ears to hear You say how to overtake the enemy. I bless my heart to be full of purpose, knowing the enemy is out to kill my destiny and create a sense of apathy my life. By the power of God in me, I will walk in the dominion given to me and I will live the abundant life Jesus died and rose again to give me. Amen!

A Warrior in the Lord’s Army,

My hope is for Believers in Jesus Christ to join together each day to pray, to push back the enemy as we release God’s power here on earth against the coronavirus, riots, and lies. The prayers will be listed each day as Warriors Arise. I will put a date with it so we can keep them straight. If you have any questions please feel free to make a comment or private message me.
