Warriors Arise: November 10, 2021
Exodus 19:3-6 (NKJV) And Moses went up to God, and the Lord called to him from the mountain, saying, “Thus you shall say to the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel: 4 ‘You have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles’ wings and brought you to Myself. 5 Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the earth is Mine. 6 And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel.”
God had made a promise to Moses, Exodus 3:12, “I will certainly be with you. And this shall be a sign to you that I have sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you shall serve God on this mountain.” God called Moses up to the mountain to the place it began nearly 4 months earlier. It seems as though God want Moses to acknowledge what He has done since they last talked.
In Exodus 19:3-6, Moses wasn't in trouble. God didn't call Moses into the principal's office. God called Moses up to celebrate, "I did what I said I would do. Here you are and here are my people." God is so excited that His people are finally free. Moses did what God had always intended for Him to do. Moses was called, positioned as a baby to be the instrument God used to free His people. But Moses acted out of God's timing and ran away, hiding for 40 years. God needed this moment with Moses.
Have you known what God has called you to do? When you knew what you were called to do, did it burn inside of you? Was it difficult to keep yourself reined in while everything got into place for you to actually fulfill what God put inside of you to do? Many of us have been in that exact situation. I have no judgement toward Moses. I wouldn't have been able to see my people, my family, abused and stood for it. I might have done the same thing or gotten myself killed trying to defend them. I have also run to the back side of the dessert and tried to hide. I tried to ignore my gifting and put them out every time I felt like God had lit the fire in me again. I have even quoted Scripture, the same one Jesus quoted His mother, "Woman, it is not my time." I never had someone like Mary who turned to the others and said, "Do whatever He says." and thus thrown into ministry. However, I knew God was not pleased with my misuse of Scripture for my personal protection.
God was so excited. Moses had achieved what He was called, positioned, born to do. Moses did this magnificent accomplishment with God, listening to God, following God's lead and calling upon God. They accomplished this massive miracle. 2.3 billion saved freed from Egypt in one day! That is amazing. That is God. That is God working through one man. That is God in control with a willing heart.
Father, am I hiding on the back side of the dessert? Are there people I am supposed to be leading to freedom? It is scary. Maybe not as scary as Moses going before Pharaoh or people he really didn't know. But I have to be willing to do this with You. I ask for You to give me strength and courage to do what You have put in my hands to do. Not only did the Children of Israel get their freedom but Moses was no longer in bondage to his defeat. Directed by You, He returned to fulfill what He was called to do. I ask for the same opportunity. I am coming before You and asking for You to redeem that time that has been lost becuase of my disobedience to do what You say to do, when You say to do it. I ask for You to give me the opportunity to redo what I didn't accomplish before. I tried to do it in my own strength and ability and I needed to look to You and do it with You. Come and redeem the time and return the opportunity in Jesus' name amen.
