Warriors Arise: May 23, 2023
Matthew 2:7-9 (NKJV) Then Herod, when he had secretly called the wise men, determined from them what time the star appeared. 8 And he sent them to Bethlehem and said, “Go and search carefully for the young Child, and when you have found Him, bring back word to me, that I may come and worship Him also.” 9 When they heard the king, they departed; and behold, the star which they had seen in the East went before them, till it came and stood over where the young Child was.
I love God! He never ceases to amaze me. Digging deeper and reading thoroughly through Scripture is revealing so much. I love how He points out Scriptures. It is such a treasure to see and begin to understand Scripture more clearly. It is so important to me to remain teachable. This blog isn't just about what I know; it is about what I am learning in my journey with Christ. I know the day I stop being teachable is the day I begin to wither in my faith. A withered plant does not have the strength to carry the fruit it is to bear nor does it have the nourishment to develop good fruit.
I couldn't figure out how the star was still leading them. This past year three planets came together and it was called the Christmas Star, said to be the alignment that happened when Christ was born, the very alignment the wisemen had seen. However, the Christmas Star that just happened didn't stay around for two years. A couple of days before you could see them coming together and then after they aligned you could see them separating. I'm not sure how this all happened, it will be a movie in heaven I will want to see; however, in my mind is blown with what popped out today in Scripture.
Matthew 2:1-2 (NKJV ) Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, 2 saying, “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him.”
Keep in mind they have been traveling for most likely two years. The star is leading them. After speaking with Herod, knowing the new king of Jews is not in Jerusalem, they pick up where they left off.
Matt 2:9 (NKJV) When they heard the king, they departed; and behold, the star which they had seen in the East went before them,
I'm not thinking this was an alignment of planets, I think this might be more like the pillar of fire that lead the Children of Israel through the wilderness after He delivered them from Egypt. I am thinking there might have been a star that God directed the path of the wisemen for all those months and even a year or two. I do tend to have faith like a child. It makes it so easy to believe God could do something like this. Just like I believe that the Children of Israel walked through on DRY ground, it should have been muddy, but, no. God completely removed the sludge at the bottom of the Red Sea. I can believe a big fish swallowed Jonah and didn't digest Him but spit him out three days later. I can believe the sun stood still for Joshua and backed up for Hezekiah. I can believe the Children of Israel walked around the wall of Jericho and it came tumbling down. I can believe the mouths of the lions were shut with Daniel sitting right in front of them. I can also believe they didnt' even touch him. It wasn't just that God has to shut the mouths of the lions, but He had to keep them from tearing Daniel to pieces in their frustration of not being able to eat him. I can believe Jesus walked on water, healed the sick, cast out demons, raised the dead and cleansed the lepers. I believe Peter and John healed a lame man and he stood up and walked. I prayed years ago for God to keep me tender, to have a childlike faith. As a daughter who remained childlike, I could believe God could do anything and would, because His love NEVER fails. When I doubt I know I am thinking from my adult reasoning mind rather than from a heart of faith like a child. So, if God wants to lead the wisemen with a star for two years, then I believe He directed that star to exactly where He wanted the wisemen to go and when He wanted them to arrive.
It doesn't really matter how God did it. It only matters that I believe He did lead them to the right place, at the right time, for a plan greater than I may ever know. It matters that I believe He can lead me each and every day so some end result that will position me for exactly where He wants me to be, doing what He wants me to do for a specific purpose. I get to be a part of bringing honor and glory to God. I get to be a part of His plan. Some adventures may take a few days and others may take a few years. No matter how long a particular assignment takes, He will guide me. I am to look for Him to lead me just as the wisemen looked for the star to lead them.
Father, I am incredibly blown away by this revelation. You had been directing a star in the heavens assigned to lead the wisemen directly to fulfill Scripture. The star could have been seen by Your people but they didn't acknowledge it. They were not alert. I want to be alert to see where You are, what You are doing and join You. I want to be a part of Your kingdom expanding here on earth. I look to You to lead me so I am at the right place, at the right time, doing the right thing. You are amazing. Your way is the BEST! Scripture was fulfilled and yet the priests didn't acknowledge it. God, I want to pursue You and recognize when You are sending me a sign. I want to be aware when You are trying to get my attention. You drop little hints, even big hints and I feel I miss them. I want to be more aware of You and follow Your lead in Jesus' name amen.
