I'm Not Crazy

Warriors Arise: May 25, 2023

Matthew 2:9-10 (NKJV) When they heard the king, they departed; and behold, the star which they had seen in the East went before them, till it came and stood over where the young Child was. 10 When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceedingly great joy.

How many people along their journey said they were crazy? They were following a star that didn't seem to catch anyone else's attention. They were following a star that didn't matter to anyone else. They were following a star connected to prophecy from the Jews and none of them acknowledged it. They were following a star and it stood over where the young Child was. What a feeling of relief! After going to Jerusalem and creating a stir with everyone in the city and Herod, they might have felt crazy. Everyone there should have known the king of the Jews had been born. But they didn't. The wisemen were following a star for a couple of years. While being in Jerusalem, how many times were they laughed at, told they were on a wild goose chase, or that they were crazy? But now, they are in Bethlehem and the star is stood over where the young Child was. What an astounding feeling. They weren't crazy. This hadn't been a wild goose chase. All those nights crossing the desert, away from their families, and sleeping in tents like nomads had paid off. This moment in time when before them the star led them to the king of the Jews, this young Child they could see with their own eyes. They weren't crazy. They were right. They were faithful. They were passionate. They were persistent. They endured hard times. They were trusting. They were thrilled. They were ecstatic. They rejoiced with exceedingly great joy. They were wise and had acted upon it. They were willing to do what seemed crazy to others in order to find the truth, the king of the Jews, the One God sent.

Am I willing to follow God? Could I have been one of those wisemen? Would I have known the Scripture? How long would I have followed the star? Would I have felt crazy? Would I have continued when the king was not on the throne in Jerusalem? His own people didn't know and didn't seem to think anything of the star they followed. Would that have discouraged me? How willing am I to do what seems crazy in order to follow God?

Father, I want a passionate heart to pursue You, and it does not matter if I have a star. Your Word and knowing You speak to me and give a direction. I want to know the signs and times of the fulfillment of Your Word and the word You speak to me. I want to know it is You leading me, like the wiseman knew the star was directing them to the King. I pray for passion and tenacity to follow without being discouraged, disappointed or persuaded to quit. Even if it takes two years or the length of my life to get to where You want me to be, I want to be walking that path pursuing You. It may seem crazy to others. I cannot be persuaded to wait when others do not hear or follow after You. You have given me ears to hear Your voice. You have given me eyes to see You and what You use to lead me. You have given me faith to follow You. You have given me purpose and passion to pursue You and Your plans for my life. I will follow You no matter if it seems crazy to others. I will follow and lay hold of what You have for me in Jesus' name amen.
