Irrevocable

Warriors Arise: February 5, 2023

1 Chronicles 15:14-15 (NKJV) So the priests and the Levites sanctified themselves to bring up the ark of the Lord God of Israel. 15 And the children of the Levites bore the ark of God on their shoulders, by its poles, as Moses had commanded according to the word of the Lord.

God would not allow anyone else to do what He had instructed the priests and Levites to do. God told Moses and he didn't suggest for the Levites to carry the ark of God on the shoulders, by its poles, he commanded. That is pretty strong.

Romans 11:29 (NKJV) For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.

Too many times we think it is ok to think it is optional, when God commands us to do something. Do you know when God is commanding you to do something or do you take everything from God as a suggestion, a possibility, if you should happen to want to? That question needs to be answered.

Do you know when God is commanding you to do something or do you take everything from God as a suggestion, a possibility if you should happen to want to?

If you and I receive everything as a suggestion from God then we will rarely say, "Yes." We tend to do things that we are willing to accomplish, but we rarely do the things that are the difficult things to accomplish. The difficult things require more than we are willing to give and they will require God. If we were honest with ourselves, we generally do the things that are comfortable for us. We do not put ourselves out there. We do not extend our abilities or talents. We guard our time, even if God is the one asking for us to give our time. But God, He believes in us more than we do. He sees our potential and desires for us to reach it. He has put a calling on each one of our lives and it is irrevocable as He says in Romans 11:29.

Maybe the priests and Levites heard David was headed out to retrieve the ark of God. It would have been difficult for at least one of them not to have heard. David took over thirty thousand people to escort the ark of the Lord back to Jerusalem. I would think the priests and Levites heard. Did they think God had changed His mind? Did they think God had chosen someone else to carry the ark? Did they even care?

Maybe you are waiting for God to tell you again. Should He have to? Shouldn't you and I humble ourselves and return to God? Shouldn't we ask to be reinstated? Shouldn't we seek God to find out if He has replaced us? Regardless of what our eyes see? Maybe someone else is doing what we are called to do. Did they see Uzzah die? Were they shaking their heads in disbelief when the ark was placed upon a cart instead of using poles? What did their eyes see? Did their eyes say they were replaced?

Regardless of what our ears hear, did God revoke their calling? Their ears heard David was taking thirty thousand men, but it wasn't the priests or the Levites. They did not get the invite. Did their ears hear that they were going to pull the cart with oxen? Did their ears hear the anger of David when Uzzah died?

God would not allow this atrocity. He had given a command through Moses and it would be carried out, until He said they were dismissed, and He hadn't. You and I have to continue in that which we know God has called us to do. Just like we wanted that clear word from God to begin operating in our calling, we would need an even more sure word that God has given that to someone else. Because the gifts and calling of God upon our life is irrevocable.

Father, I come before You and repent for the times I have tried to give up what you have called me to do. Forgive me for the times, I have sat back and watched someone else do what I wouldn't do. Especially, when it led to them getting hurt. Thankfully no one died, but they became uncertain in their own calling. They were filling mine and that positioned them out of place for their own. I left a gap, they tried to fill it and it weakened them I pray You would come and strengthen them. I pray they would hear a clear word from You on what you would have for them to do. I pray they would know, without a doubt, what you have called them to do. I pray they would rise up and walk in their calling in Jesus' name amen.
