It's a Sign

Warriors Arise: January 21, 2023

2 Samuel 6:12 (NKJV) Now it was told King David, saying, “The Lord has blessed the house of Obed-Edom and all that belongs to him, because of the ark of God.” So David went and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obed-Edom to the City of David with gladness.

The Lord has blessed! Can't you see a boy standing on the corner or running through the street of the City of David shouting, "Extra! Extra! Read all about it! The Lord has blessed Obed-Edom and all the belongs to him!" Then you can hear the people whispering and the excitement build, "It is because of the ark of God."

It is a sign. The Lord God had not left His people. He was not angry with them. He wanted to be active, involved and among His people. God was blessing Obed-Edom and all that belonged to him. God wanted to be noticed. He wanted His people to know all is well. His blessings were so abundant that people noticed. Not only did people notice, but enough people verified it that word got back to David.

We can get stagnate in our Christian walk with God, when we are always waiting for a sign from God, before we do anything. However, there are times when we need to step back and re-evaluate a situation to make sure God is honored. It is ok to ask for a sign, when you don't know God's timing like Gideon. Side note, Gideon needed verification from God that he was to face off with the Midianites, because his older brothers had gone to battle before and his brothers died by the hands of the Midianites. (We studied this in earlier blogs. You can check it out in Judges 6-8.)

David needed a sign from God and to know how to transport the ark of God into the City of David, without another mishap. God was not angry with them. God had not rejected his people. God was blessing Obed-Edom and all that belonged to him. Bringing the ark of God into the City of David, the capital of the Children of Israel, would position God's blessing to be over all God's people, not just one family. David wanted all of Israel to be able to worship God and receive His blessing. God had shown Himself faithful to His people. It was time to bring the ark of God to the people.

This challenges me to look for the Lord's blessing on others. I speak blessing over them and pray they receive what God is doing in their lives and recognize it as God's blessing. I also look to see who the Lord would have me pray for and reach out to. I look for where the Lord is at work and join Him. Sometimes it is a prayer, a phone call, a message through Facebook, a note, a gift or flowers. This past week it was balloons. God is so fun! The sign David was looking for was God's blessing. When he saw it, he brought it to the people with gladness. He wanted the people to know God like he did and that His hand of blessing was for them as well.

Father, I pray for my eyes to see Your blessing upon the lives of others. I want to see those You want to bless. I want to bring Your blessing upon those in my sphere of influence. I want to position You in thier midst and have them know You like I do. I pray they know You better than I do. I pray they would seek You and find You. I pray each one of us would pursue You, like our next breath. You are amazing in all of Your ways. You desire for each one of us to walk in Your blessing. We are Your people. We are positioned to be the city on a hill, the light that shines in the darkness. You are God and Your blessings are for each one of us. I will praise You for Your goodness and all You have done to show Yourself mighty on my behalf. You are my God and I worship You in Jesus' name amen.
