Warriors Arise: April 2, 2024
Matthew 8:23 Now when He got into a boat, His disciples followed Him.
What a simple verse. Jesus got in the boat, His disciples got into the boat. That seems easy enough. Why do we make following Jesus so difficult?
It is a matter of spending time with Him so we recognize when He is on the move. When He moves, then we move. When He rests, we rest. When He prays, we pray. When He does miracles, we join Him and we do miracles. Does that seem difficult to you?
Why do we make following Jesus so difficult? Is it because we lack truly knowing Jesus? We know Him as the one who made a way for us to get into heaven. But do we know Him as the One who prays?
Do we know Him as the One who does miracles?
Do we know Him as the One who protects?
Do we know Him as the One who provides?
Do we know Him as the One who calls us to sit with Him?
Do we know Him as the One who washes our feet?
Do we know Him as the One who commissions us to do as He has done?
Do we know Him as the One who is always with us?
Do we know Him as the One who likes to celebrate us and with us?
Do we know Him as the One who likes to have us lay our head on His shoulder?
Do we know Him as the One who teaches us things we do not know?
Do we know Him as the One who demonstrates the Father's love toward us?
Do we know Him as the One who is for us?
Do we know Him as the One who lead us into triumph?
Do we know Him as the One who gives generously?
Do we know Him as the One who calls us out darkness and into the light?
Do we know Him as the One who dances over us?
It is easy to follow Him when we know Him in each one of these listed above. Because when we know Him in these ways, we don't want to make a move without Him. We also don't want to be left behind because we didn't follow Him. When He gives a command, we respond accordingly because we know His thoughts are higher than our thoughts and His ways are higher than our ways. We know He works all things out for our good. We know His ways a good, perfect and acceptable.
My Father in heaven, hallowed be Your Name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. I pray to know You as listed above. I pray to walk in Your ways, to walk in step with You. When You move I want to move with You. When You do the miraculous I want to be doing it with You. When You speak I want to hear Your wisdom. When You celebrate me, I want to celebrate with You. When You call me to sit with You, I want to stop what I am doing and sit with You a day my head on Your shoulder like the Beloved disciple. I want to follow You all of the days of my life in Jesus' Name, Amen.
