Warriors Arise: February 12, 2023
1 Chronicles 15:25-26 (NKJV) So David, the elders of Israel, and the captains over thousands went to bring up the ark of the covenant of the Lord from the house of Obed-Edom with joy. 26 And so it was, when God helped the Levites who bore the ark of the covenant of the Lord, that they offered seven bulls and seven rams.
"When God helped," I love that phrase. Seriously, it is so empowering. How many times have I believed the lie that God isn't doing anything, He isn't going to rescue me or make a way. How many times have I believed the lie that God will assign a task and then expects me to do all the work. That couldn't be further from the truth. God NEVER assigns a task and tells us to go alone. He is ALWAYS there with us. Think about Moses. Yes, God told him to go down to Egypt and He would wait for him to return with His people; but God sent His power with him. Moses extended his staff and the power of God was released. Moses extended his hands and the power of God was released. Later, in the desert God tells Moses to to speak to the rock and water would come out. God wasn't physically with Moses, but His power was evident.
God gives us God-size tasks, because He intends to be a part of accomplishing the task. Whether God goes with me or sends His power with me, it doesn't matter. I know one or the other is going to happen. What matters is if I am hearing God. When God tells me to do something, then I am going to go do it. It is that simple with me.
From all God has taught me of His Word and through the relationship we have, I know I am in bigger danger declining what He has asked me to do with Him. I don't know that there is danger every time. I don't believe I am going to get hurt every time I say, "No" to God or "Not now," or "I'll think about it; but it isn't really what I want to do. I'm not equipped to do that. What about someone else." God is NOT the one who is going to hurt me. I hurt me because when I say, "No," I am no longer in alignment with God. Therefore, God is moving on in the vision He wants accomplished and I am being left behind. I am not walking with Him as He continues to walk toward what He wants done.
Scripture tells us that Jesus did only what He saw the Father doing. I think Jesus wanted to be in the presence of the Father, so He looked for where His Father was already at work and joined Him. This is how we should be. We should be looking for God. We should be seeing what He is already doing. Then we should join Him.
There is another type of danger. The danger of telling God, "No," too many times that it leads to apathy. When you read Judges you will see what apathy does. It leads people into living their own way which led to bondage. This is scarier than getting hurt. Healing physically is much easier than a mental or spiritual healing. Once we believe the lie about God, then the truth is extremely difficult to receive. It is simpler to listen to God, trust God, and walk with God. I am protected and do not run the risk of becoming apathetic. Bondage is NOT the life I want to live. I want to live the simple life. When God speaks, I listen. When God speaks, I say, "Yes."
Father, You are wonderful in all of Your ways. I completely trust You. I ask for You to come and minister to me. I want to know Your voice. I want to learn Your ways. I want to be ready when You ask. I want to be ready for the task ahead. I know You will be with me or send Your power to go with me. I know You desire more than I do, for the task to be done. I choose the simple life. My decision is to say, "Yes," to You. I will honor You with my yes in Jesus' name amen.
