Warriors Arise: January 2, 2022
Matthew 22:37-40 (NKJV) Jesus said to him, “ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”
Is today just another day? Is this year just another year? It depends on your perspective and willingness to act. If we wake up and today is just another day then we will do today what we did every other Sunday. We will do Monday, what we do every Monday, we will do Tuesday what we do every Tuesday etc. The point is we began a new year. What is going to be new in your year other than the date?
God had given the Children of Israel the two commandments to follow. They were to protect the people, establish honor among the people, and strengthen their relationship with God. Over the years, things changed. Somebody kept adding to the commandments. They couldn't see that everything we need to know is summed up in the ten commandments. There was no need for more. So when Jesus arrives. He then teaches a new commandment. They/we are to love the Lord our God will all our heart, with all our soul, with all our mind and all our stength. The second commandment is to love our neighbor as ourselves.
It takes these two commandments to set the society working together rather than tearing apart. It takes these two commandments for each person to be living the the destiny God placed within them. It take these two commandments for peace to come and joy to abound. It takes these two commandments for God to be glorified each day in our lives and through our lives. It takes these two commandments to have dominion over the enemy and expand God's kingdom here on earth. God is wise. When Jesus gave us these two commandments, it reestablished the goodness of the Lord in our lives and put us on track to fulfill our destiny to glorify God in all we do.
Father, You are amazing. I stand in awe of You. Your wisdom leads un to righteousness. peace, and joy. All we have to do is apply it. We refocus our mind on honoring You in what we do each day. We purpose in our heart the love others as we love ourselves. If what we do brings honor to others then we would do it. If it doesn't then we should change our way. You are amazing and I love You. I bless Your ways and how simple You have instructed us so that we live in the abundant life Jesus demonstrated when He walked the earth. I will set my heart to these two commandments and honor You in Jesus' name amen.
