Warriors Arise: January 4, 2023

Numbers 6:22-26 (NKJV)

And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: 23 “Speak to Aaron and his sons, saying, ‘This is the way you shall bless the children of Israel. Say to them:

24 “The Lord bless you and keep you;

25 The Lord make His face shine upon you,

And be gracious to you;

26 The Lord lift up His countenance upon you,

And give you peace.” ’

For eight days we have looked deeper into this passage of Scriptures. It is good to be a studier of the Word of God. We must study a Word to be able to apply the word. The Jews believed strongly in the power of the blessing. Do you?

  • Do you believe God wants to bless you?

  • Do you believe His desire is for you to know He is keeping you?

  • Do you believe He is making His face to shine upon you?

  • Do you believe God is gracious to you?

  • Do you believe He is lifting up His countenance upon you?

  • Do you believe He gives you peace?

The Lord gave this passage to Aaron and his sons, because they were the priest to the nation of Israel. In 1 Peter 2:9, those who are believers, Christ-followers, are also called a Royal Priest. Therefore, as a Royal Priest of the Lord, you and I have the authority to speak this blessing upon our lives and others. Why would the Lord have the priest pronounce this blessing upon His people? He wanted His people to know on a regular basis: His favor is upon them, He is gracious, and He is giving them peace. This was not a once in a lifetime blessing. Think of what you may know of the Jews, the Hebrew people. Their greeting is Shalom. Shalom means: peace, health to you, for you to prosper, and have favor in your relationships. Before Jesus made it possible for each one of us to be His Royal Priests, His people, the Israelites were already blessing each other in their greeting, "Shalom."

Why couldn't we do this? I am not a Hebrew; however, I am God's child, I am a believer, a follower of Jesus Christ. Therefore, I am also a Royal Priest. What if, you and I, all of God's people were to bless our lives, our families, and the people we come in contact each day with "Shalom"? Why does that seem so awkward? We may not be Hebrew, but we can speak peace, the Lord's blessing over people and toward people.

God wanted His people to be blessed. He wanted each one to know His presence is with them. He wanted this blessing to be a beautiful way of life. Life would change, for us and so many others, if we truly embrace this passage into our daily lives. My exhortation is for you to write this passage on a 3x5 index card and speak it over yourself each day through January 31. At that point evaluate what your declaration and reception of the Lord's blessing has done in your life. If you and I do this wholeheartedly, we will see the Lord's favor upon us. We will see His graciousness upon us. We will walk more upon the path of peace as He opens it before us. By January 31, I hope you will make this a part of your life, because you have seen the importance of the declaration of the Lord's blessing in Your life. Shalom!

The Lord bless you and keep you;

25 The Lord make His face shine upon you,

And be gracious to you;

26 The Lord lift up His countenance upon you,

And give you peace.” ’

Father, I am unsure of what this is going to look like in my life. I ask for the tenacity to make this blessing a part of my every day life at least through January 31st. I will write it down. I will speak it over myself. I will speak it over others even if it is only in prayer. I will get started. I do not want it to be awkward. I want to receive it for myself and know the fullness of Your blessing. I want to know the power of Your Word, living in me and expressing it to others. You have so much You want to give me, Your blessing, Your protection, Your favor, grace, and peace. You want me to have all of these. I want it to move from knowing this is in the Bible to having this be a part of my life and giving it to others. I am seeking You. This is a change in my life that is needed. It doesn't matter if the world changes with me. It matters if I change into who You have called me to be and do what you have given me to do. I will bless myself and I will bless others because You are my Lord and I am Your Royal Priest. I will embrace the blessing and give it freely in Jesus' name amen.
