Warriors Arise: April 30th, 2020
Linking Luke with John leads us to see who followed Peter and John.
Luke 24:12: "But Peter arose and ran to the tomb; and stooping down, he saw the linen cloths lying by themselves; and he departed, marveling to himself at what had happened."
John 20:10-11: "Then the disciples went away again to their own homes. But Mary stood outside by the tomb weeping, and as she wept she stooped down and looked into the tomb."
Peter and John did not know that Mary Magdalene was following them. Peter knew John followed because he caught up to him and then ran on to see into the tomb. But Mary Magdalene kept herself at a distance. She followed, watching them as they looked into the tomb. I might have thought that she came later instead of following them except for the word "but" beginning verse 11 in John chapter 20.
The Bible was not originally written with chapter and verse. So when John writes about what he and Peter did after they looked into the tomb and continues with "but Mary stood outside the tomb weeping..." he had seen her as they left. In their culture, it was common for there to be weepers at someone's tomb.
Mary followed and remain. She didn't lead the disciples even though she was one of the three who delivered the message. If someone delivers a message like the three women had delivered, people would usually want you to take them to the place where it all happened. She did not lead the men, she followed Peter and John back to the the tomb. What would they experience?
Warriors, we are going to pray today for those who are following us, those we had not idea they were there until we turned around. Those we, barely take notice of as we go about our day. Those who are expecting us to see God interact with us.
Father, I thank You for loving me deeply. I thank You for sending the message and revelation of Jesus' amazing life and resurrection, so that I would believe. I am heartbroken over those who have rejected Your love, those who have turned their backs on You, those who deny the truth of all You are and have done. God, I pray that I and all Believers would run to see You. I pray we would not lead empty, but would be filled with your love and wisdom to share with others. Today, so many need to know You. In the midst of this pandemic, I ask for Your Holy Spirit to brood over the people in the hospitals from the patients to the doctors and the janitors who keep it clean. I ask for a spiritual cleansing all over our world; for demonic control to cease in the name of Jesus. I ask for people to turn to You and receive provision and protection from You as well as healing in the name of Jesus. God, I turn to You for protection, provision, strength, wisdom, kindness and joy. I want those who follow me, those I don't even know are watching me, to see JESUS. Let there be a kind word from my mouth and a gentle response when people want to stir up trouble and be contentious. I rebuke malice and contention in the name of Jesus. I release kindness and gentleness in Jesus' name. I want to be one who points people to seek You, follow You, honor You, and be all You created them to be. I pray for their desire for You to be greater each day. I pray they would have the tenacity to remain in waiting for You. I pray they would not give up the pursuit of You. Just like when Moses left the tent of meetings, the cloud lifted and Joshua remained; I ask for those who follow me, as I meet with You, that they would remain with You, seeking You, wanting You, finding You. In Jesus' name I pray amen.
A Warrior in the Lord’s Army, Veridee Joy
My hope is for Believers in Jesus Christ to join together each day to pray, to push back the enemy as we release God’s power here on earth against the coronavirus. The prayers will be listed each day as Warriors Arise. I will put a date with it so we can keep them straight. If you have any questions please feel free to make a comment or private message me.
