Warriors Arise: December 22, 2021
Psalms 2 (NKJV,) Why do the nations rage,
And the people plot a vain thing?
2 The kings of the earth set themselves,
And the rulers take counsel together,
Against the Lord and against His Anointed, saying,
3 “Let us break Their bonds in pieces
And cast away Their cords from us.”
4 He who sits in the heavens shall laugh;
The Lord shall hold them in derision.
5 Then He shall speak to them in His wrath,
And distress them in His deep displeasure:
6 “Yet I have set My King
On My holy hill of Zion.”
7 “I will declare the decree:
The Lord has said to Me,
‘You are My Son,
Today I have begotten You.
8 Ask of Me, and I will give You
The nations for Your inheritance,
And the ends of the earth for Your possession.
9 You shall break them with a rod of iron;
You shall dash them to pieces like a potter's vessel.’ ”
10 Now therefore, be wise, O kings;
Be instructed, you judges of the earth.
11 Serve the Lord with fear,
And rejoice with trembling.
12 Kiss the Son, lest He be angry,
And you perish in the way,
When His wrath is kindled but a little.
Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him.
I am not thinking God was laughing because it was funny. He was laughing because of the absurdity of what the kings of the earth were saying. It is one of those laughs where you are taken aback by the person's audacity to make such a boastful statement. You know they have absolutely no idea what they are saying. Their pride is puffing them up beyond what they can back up. They are not wiser than God's Son. God has established His Son as the King of kings. There is no one greater than King Jesus.
As I think about writing today's blog, the Hallelujah Chorus is running through my head, "King of kings and Lord of lords…and He shall reign for ever and ever. Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Ha-lle-lu-jah!" I can praise the KING because I know He reigns now and forevermore. I may like who is the governing power, I may not; but what I know is that Jesus is King and His rule will not end. He earned His position when He came to earth as a baby. Herod had the sense to fear His birth, because he knew his rule was over when God's Son arrived. From that day forward the shift began and governments have been trying to establish themselves, their families, their agenda, but Jesus is King of kings. They will all answer to Him. Jesus coming to earth cannot be undone. The birth of our Messiah, The Emanuel, the King who rules over all kings is to be celebrated this Christmas and every birthday celebration to come. He is King and He will reign for ever and ever! Hallelujah!
Father, I have sung the Hallelujah Chorus a number of times. It is a powerful song. This year it means so much more as I think of the words. I place my trust in Jesus, the King of all kings. His rule was established over 2,000 years ago. I celebrate the birth not only of the One who saved me, but the One who is King of my life and of all. His reign will last forever and ever. No one can stop it. No one can take His place. He is KING and I will celebrate the birthday of my King in Jesus' name amen.
