Know Your Rank

Warriors Arise: February 27, 2021

Proverbs 13:17 (NKJV) A wicked messenger falls into trouble, But a faithful ambassador brings health.

I wonder if Daniel knew this Proverb. Daniel knew his position in Babylon, which was not his concern. He never asked to be given rank or position. His desire was to return to Jerusalem, to worship in God's temple again. Daniel had a choice. God obviously had called Daniel to be His voice to the kings of Babylon, the Medes and Persian Empire. He had a choice. He could be concerned about his own skin and been a wicked messenger and trouble surely would have fallen upon him or He could be a faithful ambassador of God. In which God would bring him health. Keep in mind, God never failed Daniel. Daniel served 5 pagan kings but he knew his real role was God's ambassador.

From yesterday's blog "Daniel would rather the king humble himself than to receive the riches. It wasn't by Daniel's doing that the knew what the writing said. And He wasn't going to seek to promote himself for something God had given him. Daniel didn't earn it. Daniel listened to God and spoke as an ambassador for God."

2 Corinthians 5:20 (NKJV) Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ's behalf, be reconciled to God.

You may know that Paul is the author of 2 Corinthians. It is almost as if Paul is talking about Daniel speaking God's words to Nebuchadnezzar and Belshazzar. We all have role models, people we admire for the achievements they have made, for the stand they took, for their boldness to speak the truth, their courage to stand against tyranny and unrighteousness. When I read about Daniel and his boldness to speak to pagan kings I remember Paul's actions to advance the kingdom of God. Daniel may have been Paul's remodel.

Ephesians 6:14-20 (NKJV) Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; 18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints— 19 and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

In verse 18, I think of Daniel praying three times a day and being thrown into the lion's den because of his devotion to God. When I read verse 19, I think of all the times Daniel had to stand before pagan kings, interpret dreams and enigmas, pronouncing God's judgement. Where Paul was beaten and run out of town, stoned to death (or so they thought) and whipped 39 times on 5 different occasions. Daniel pronounced judgement on kings and could have been kills right there in the king's court for what he said. No one spoke to kings like Daniel did. Maybe I should say, no one speaks to kings like Daniel did and gets away with it.

Daniel's rank in the Babylonian kingdom was nothing compared to his rank in God's kingdom. God positioned Daniel to speak to pagan kings. Daniel was faithful every time to step forward no matter what the consequences and speak what God said. He did not waver when facing a king, he did not declare lies. He spoke the truth. He spoke exactly what God wanted him to say.

Father, You have positioned each one of us in a place where we can expand Your kingdom. I pray we would embrace the courage of Daniel and the boldness of Paul to speak the truth, to make known Your ways and deliver only what You say. I pray for You to minister to our minds so we know the truth. I pray You would ignite our hearts with passion to see the last person saved, the wayward return to You, and the blasphemous humble their hearts and acknowledge You. I ask for You to draw us to Biblical history of people You have called to be ambassadors for You; that all relates to how You have positioned us. I ask for Your dreams in us to be awakened. I pray we would seek You, know You and follow Your call upon our lives. I pray we would know You have called us to be ambassadors for Your kingdom, pronouncing Your truths, and encouraging people to follow You with all their heart, soul and mind in Jesus' name amen.
