Warriors Arise: November 12, 2023
Matthew 5: 27-28 “You have heard that it was said to those of old, You shall not commit adultery.’ But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart..."
This is not a fun topic. We like to have our eyes enticed. We like to think we will remain in control at all times. We like to think we can resist temptation at any time. But what we look upon feeds our mind and what feeds our mind
will eventually turn into an action.
Not only are you to keep your hands to yourself, but you are to keep your eyes to yourself. Make a covenant with your eyes like Job (Job 31:1). He made a covenant with his eyes that he would not look upon a woman lustfully.
It is to only the men who have to keep their eyes focused on the woman they have married but is in women who need outlook upon their husband with eyes of love. Adultery doesn't begin in the bed. It begins with the look.
When we look and then look again, we open the door for lust to creep into our heart and control us. The longer we allow lust to remain, it dictates our thoughts and the things we dwell on are the things we will put into action.
Father, I come before You today to make a covenant with my eyes. My eyes will be for my husband. I will dwell upon him and remain faithful, in love, and full of hope for our future. I will invest in our relationship. I will put into action my love for him. I will not look twice at another man. I will not allow my mind to entertain thoughts of another. I will keep my thoughts pure and toward my spouse in Jesus' name amen.
