Warriors Arise: November 23, 2020
1 Samuel 30:11a (NKJV) Then they found an Egyptian in the field, and brought him to David
You never know who God is going to use to help you out. David and his men are in pursuit, they are looking ,searching for any clue as to if they are on the right trail. It would be nice to have some confirmation that you are going in the right direction. I would assume while they were discussing the men staying behind at the Brook Besor that David sent some men ahead as scouts. But even if he didn't, they were still 400 men, they were all watching, looking, alert of any sign that would give them encouragement that they were headed the right direction.
"They found an Egyptian in the field, and brought him to David." David is a skilled war leader. Any bit of information helps with the outcome of a battle. He and his men were on a mission. David did not see the Egyptian but his men did and they saw the value in this Egyptian. Maybe the men had tried to talk to the Egyptian and couldn't get him to speak but they knew to let David make the decision on what to do with him.
I wonder if there are times when we see a clue to the situation we are facing? God specifically put it in our path, yet we ignore it. David's men did not ignore this clue, they brought the clue to David. When God has directed our path and we are pursuing it to fulfill what He has told us to do, are we looking, watching, alert to things or people along the way. There are times when people share a word they received from the Lord and are in hot pursuit to follow it but they ignore all the people God has put along the way to join them in accomplishing the word. David didn't do this alone, he didn't leave his men behind and say, "I will be back with our wives, children and things. Stay here and wait." David took his men with him. They were going to do this together.
This might not have been the first time these men saw someone wandering and brought him to David.
1 Samuel 22:1-2 (NKJV) David therefore departed from there and escaped to the cave of Adullam. So when his brothers and all his father's house heard it, they went down there to him. 2 And everyone who was in distress, everyone who was in debt, and everyone who was discontented gathered to him. So he became captain over them. And there were about four hundred men with him.
Since David has been on the run from King Saul, men and their families have been wandering around the countryside looking for him. David brought in, cared for and trained all who came to him. He had done this with sheep when he was a shepherd now he is doing this with men and their families. His men knew David would take in and care for someone wandering just like he had for them.
David's men knew the value this one man could offer.
Father, I ask we would see the value each person has to offer. There are people who we have disregarded because others did not see the value You placed inside of them. I ask for You to send us, Your people to find them. I ask we would be following Your plan, going in the direction You lead us and be attentive as we look, watch and remain alert to those who are wandering. I pray we would go to them with compassion and bring them to You. There are people who need a job and we need to pray doors will open up for them. There are people who need food, an electric bill or rent paid because of the pandemic and we need to believe You will provide, even if You choose to use us to be the blessing. There are people who need their health to be restored and they need us to pray, believing You will restore their health in Jesus' name. There are people who need encouragement to do the right thing, to know the truth and live by the truth. There are people confused by the lies of the media and have lost hope in the dream You have placed inside of them. I ask for You to come and reveal the truth. Satan causes confusion to derail us from Your purpose for our life. I rebuke confusion in the name of Jesus and declare for the truth to be known and to set us free. I pray each one would recognize the truth and embrace the truth. I ask for Your understanding and wisdom to come and for each person to pursue them. I pray we will be a people who embrace Your wisdom and understanding. I ask for justice to prevail in our country and around the world. I pray for our constitutional rights to be honored and upheld in our government. I rebuke Satan for getting his claws into our election process through false ballots, fraud, stealing the ballots requested and removing officials from the polls. I ask for You to right the wrongs. I ask for the things done in darkness through this election to be brought out into the light. I ask for truth and honesty to prevail in Jesus' name amen.
